Homebrew Aviari Species Details

Aviari are a race of humanoid creatures that live high in tall trees or atop mountain peaks. They resemble humans in appearance, with varied looks just as unique as humans can be, with one large glaring difference. Aviari have massive wings on their backs, and are capable of flight at great speeds. 

 

The Aviari are a very diverse people, believing in spiritual freedom and physical enlightenment through flight. They spend their days hunting and training, meditating at the highest points they can find, and flying as much as they can. Fiercely proud, and rather carefree, Aviari feel at home in the skies. Aviari rarely take up adventure, prefering to live in seclusion in their homes. Its much easier to maintain their lofty height above the rest of the world from their homelands. Those rare few that do set out are usually met with stares and weird glances. Some few even hunt Aviari, their wings being a prize to hang on many a hunter's wall or the feathers being prized for their durability or beauty  over normal bird feathers.

Aviari have a rather fast fly speed starting fron level 1, so special consideration from your DM is required before you play this race!

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Aviari age similarly to humans, maturing and reaching old age as humans do

Alignment

Most Aviari are good natured, with a tendency towards lawful. The more adventurous might be chaotic, but as a human is capable of anything, so too is an Aviari

Size

Aviari are as varied in appearance as humans can be. They all have wings like a birds growing from their backs, the feathers of which are much more sturdy than normal feathers. The patterns for the wings may also be as varied as any birds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Flight

You have a flying speed of 50 feet. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor, or be overencombered.

Keen Senses

Aviari have incredibly sharp senses, especially their eyes. Aviari gain proficiency in perception, and have advantage on perception checks.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Auran.
