Homebrew DemiAvian Species Details
As the chaos rift tore through Nodonesto and its fracturing moons, many creatures were merged togerther with varied results. The DemiAvians are the humans who wer elucky enough to keep their brains and not become Avian Abominations.
While no less intelligent or capable than a human, DemiAvians have been bound to societal Caste C along with Reptides and Manphibians.
Beak and Feather
From below, DemiAvians look much like large birds. Only when they descend to roost on a branch or walk across the ground does their humanoid appearance reveal itself. Standing upright, DemiAvians might reach 5 feet tall, and they have long, narrow legs that taper to sharp talons.
Feathers cover their bodies. Their plumage typically shows ancestral lineage, with survivors from the many of Nodonestos metropolis' appearing much like a rock dove, whereas the tribes from Nodonestos island regions resemble a variety of waterfowl.
Sky Wardens
Nowhere are the DemiAvians more comfortable than in the sky. They can use this to their advantage in the large SubGeo domes that encapsulate the cities of Iovo. DemiAvians are often seen flying through the artificially windswept corridors of the cityskape, allowing them to serve the A and B castes as couriers and investigators. In battle, they prove dynamic and acrobatic fliers, moving with remarkable speed and grace, diving to lash opponents with weapons or talons before turning and flying away.
The lack of proper ventilations in the SubGeos makes it hard for DemiAvians to remain airborne for hours like they might desire, if only there were safe access to Iovo's surface...
Caste C and the "Big Birds"
Like the Reptides and Manphibians, DemiAvians have been declared by Urs Admin to be restricted to a maximum ranking of caste C. While able to make a living as a worker and access social services and venues, DemiAvians can never own property or a licensed firearm in Urs Umbara.
Urs Admin scapegoats their oppression of the DemiAvians with their casting by declaring it a protection against the threat of the "Big Birds" a name that itself mocks the organization. The Big Birds are two groups of rivaling gangs composed entirely of DemiAvians. Those in the lower quarter of Urs Umbara enjoy moderate protection from the law under the name of the First Claw, descendants of Rock Dove DemiAvians who seek to protect their lineage and community. Those in the East District know of the Red Wing, a trafficking group descending from Red River Crane DemiAvians, expert in martial arts. While these groups run criminal activity, it is not a threat to quality of life in Urs Umbara. The prejudice from S-Sapiens of the Urs Admin is the truest threat to life for both DemiAvians and Urs Umbara
