Homebrew Canidtaur Species Details

"Canidtaurs have worked side by side the people of Juflon for centuries. They have been by our side in conflict serving loyally and honestly with the men and women who chose to be there. The time is past that we enslave those who we had seen as below us and make amends. A History of Servitude

 Natives of the north western island of Ageic, canidtaur used to be a proud tribal culture based around unity through a connection to the world around them. When first contact with the ancient Xacheoye Empire was made, it only worsened divides between tribes and those who readily accepted the magics of the foreigners and those who embraced the old traditions. Over time, the Xacheoye Empire claimed more and more of the land, forcing the tribes to move more and more rapidly until they found themselves contained within enclaves and parcels of land that the Empire had decreed. 

When the Kingdom of Kochiassu fought the Empire for control of the island, beating them out of the territory, the Canidtaur hoped for freedom, for their land to be returned like was promised. This was never to be, as within years of occupation by Kochiassu, the canidtaur found themselves being stolen, taken away to serve on the plantations, farms and properties of the new wave of settlers. Eventually, it was more common to see a canidtaur in bondage than freedom. When the Post Terminus era began, they had been enslaved for centuries already, seen as nothing more than smart animals by those of the kingdom.  

Juflon Revolution

The revolutionary movement for Juflon independence rose at around the same time that the abolitionist movement began for the canidatur race. When independence was finally achieved, the abolitionists pushed hard during the Premier campaign to elect the first new government of the country. Abolitionist and Democratic candidate Harlow Burk won the election and as a result, in the constitution his government created it outlined the freedom of all enslaved peoples, citing the canidtaur case as a specific and prominant example during the speech that announced it's passing into legislation.

However, this was met with condemnation from nearly every other major nation across Ageic, which saw the release from slavery of hundreds of thousands of canidtaurs as detrimental to their own slave trade networks, despite canidtaurs not being common in their territories. 

Canidtaur Traits

Your canidtaur character has the following traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Strength score increases by 1.

Age

Canidtaur mature and age at about the same rate as humans.

Size

Canidtaur stand between 6 and 7 feet tall, with their lower bodies reaching about 4 feet at the withers. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 40 feet.

Extra Limbs

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push or drag.

In addition, any climb that requires hands and feet is especially difficult for you because of your additional legs. When you make such a climb, each foot of movement costs you 4 extra feet, instead of the normal 1 extra foot.

Ramming

If you move at least 30 feet straight toward a target and then hit it with a melee weapon attack on the same turn, you can immediately make a strength check to knock the target over as a bonus action if the target is up to one size larger than you.

Smellsense

Due to your canine sense of smell, you have a limited form of blindsense and can detect those around you in a 30 foot range. 

Proficiencies

You get to choose one proficiency as a reflection of your specific breed of canidtaur.

Innate Ability

As a canidtaur, your character is born with an innate ability ability specific to the breed of dog you are. You have the choices between: Bloodhound, Enhanced Senses, Herding, or Man's Best Friend.
