Homebrew Wyveri Species Details

PRANKSTERS AND JOKESTERS

The Wyveri are extremely well known for their mischievous nature and love of trickery. Wyveri love jokes and pranks, but they don’t like to hurt people either, so they try to keep their jokes as harmless as possible.

Even going to war their methods of warfare tend to be sillier than most. Wyveri wars don’t typically get deadly - it’s more typically a nation-to-nation prank war of attrition. The goal is to drive your opponent to madness or to fits of uncontrollable laughter rather than to kill. Even when  driven to deadly force, the Wyveri prefer to kill in the silliest ways they can think of. As one might imagine, Wyveri and gnomes get along remarkably well.

BREAD AND THE HIGH LIFE

Wyveri are rather obsessed with bread and baking. In fact, the very oldest known wyvelic text is an old bread recipe- possibly the original recipe for wyvelic bread. Bread is very serious business among the Wyveri to the point that a baker garners as much respect as a teacher, doctor, or magistrate. Serving burnt or undercooked bread at a large social event can get you fined for up to 75 Wurona (Wyvelic Gem coins).

Wyveri like to live in high places and as a result, many homes in Wyveli are built tall with the living space on the top floor. Small houses are typically for other races or for the poor. Because of this, wyveri cities often have quite the loveliest skylines. The city of Wyvitira, capital of Wyveli, is one of the most  wealthy cities in the world and has an incredible skyline.

SAVING THE AMPITERA

When the Harbingers attacked and razed the Ampitera, they fled into the mountains and sought shelter with the little wyverns, warning them of the harbingers. The Harbingers eventually attacked and in true Wyveri fashion, they drove the brutes away by being annoying. Slings were shot, boulders were dropped, insults were flung, and Harbingers trying to climb the cliffs were tickled to fall to their deaths.

Humiliated, annoyed, and unwilling to go on, the Harbingers, for the first time ever, actually retreated and left rather than die in such undignified ways. The Ampitera were grateful and gave their old lands to the Wyveri who turned the area into Wyveli. They helped the Amiptera replant as much jungle as possible, and taught them of their pantheon. Now the Ampitera are just a part of Wyvelic life, albeit a rare one.
