Homebrew Clurichaun Species Details
He was a jolly, red-faced, drunken little fellow, and was ever found in the cellars of the debauchee, Bacchus-like, astride of the wine-butt with a brimful tankard in hand, drinking and singing away merrily. Any wine cellar known to be haunted by this sprite was doomed to bring its owner to speedy ruin.
The clurichaun, or clúrachán, is a mischievous but hardworking fairy known for their great love of drinking and devotion to fine craft. Often mistaken for halflings due to their diminutive stature or leprechauns because of their fondness for cobbling and other general mending crafts. Like their fairy cousin, the leprechaun, clurichaun are known guardians of hidden treasure. The clurichaun is a solitary fairy, most often encountered alone rather than in groups. They indulge equally in their love of drink and partying as much as they enjoy the comforts of home and having a private place to settle in peace and quiet.
Small and Mercurial Loners
The ultimate extroverted-introvert Clurichauns survive in a world full of larger creatures by building a reputation as amazingly hardworking craftspeople with a generous spirit while drinking and partying. But they are also fiercely protective of their privacy and you are extremely unlikely to see them outside of their work or favorite pub. Standing about 3 feet tall, they appear relatively harmless and so have managed to survive for centuries in the shadow of empires and on the edges of wars and political strife. They are inclined to be stout, weighing between 40 and 45 pounds.
Clurichauns’ skin ranges from pale to tan with a ruddy cast, and their hair ranges from red and curly, black and straight, to brown or sandy brown and wavy. They can have green, icy blue, brown, or hazel eyes. Clurichaun men often sport long sideburns, or mustache-less beards. They like to wear simple, comfortable, and practical clothes, favoring natural, earthy colors.
Clurichaun practicality is often restrained to their work life and clothing. They have great skill in their craft and a knack for finding the most straightforward solution to a problem, and have little patience for dithering. Aside from the drink Clurichaun indulge in great luxury and ostentatiousness when it comes to decorating their abode often using their most finely crafted pieces and expensive treasures. This is long thought to be one of the main reasons why they are so fiercely protective of their privacy
Curious and Crafty
Clurichauns are hardworking cheerful people. Cherishing their drink as much as their craft they are often known as great leaders at work and partying. Known as mild pranksters once drunk, they will typically play small, usually harmless, tricks on fellow patrons. Adventurers among them usually venture into the world for reasons of work, friendship, wanderlust, or curiosity, usually involving a precious or shiny bauble. They love discovering new things, especially new more efficient means of accomplishing a task or some exotic trinket.
Once intoxicated they tend to be generous, happily sharing what they have, buying rounds and making sure all their friends drink as well. This frequently leaves them waking to hangovers that are accompanied by pangs of regret for how much lighter their purse is.
Blend into the Crowd
Clurichauns are adept at fitting into a community of humans, halflings, dwarves, or elves, making themselves valuable and welcome. Building a strong reputation for themselves through the combination of their hardworking skills, their almost Bacchus-like bar presence, and their inherent nature to keep there private lives private and avoid unwanted attention.
Clurichauns seemingly know everyone but call only a select handful of people their friend. It takes quite a bit of work to earn their favor in order to reach this point of trust. But once earned it is equally hard to lose and most Clurichauns display remarkable ferocity when their friends, families, or communities are threatened.
Nooks and Crannies
Clurichauns tend to live in small, outwardly unassuming spaces found in the oft overlooked or hidden areas of larger communities or cities.
Most clurichauns live solitary lives among other races, where the clurichauns’ hard work and mending skills offer them abundant rewards and creature comforts. Some clurichaun enjoy traveling as a way of life, making there way from place to place, trading their skills, and maintaining no permanent home.

Clurichauns set out on the adventurer’s path for a multitude of reasons from general wanderlust or in defense of their communities, in support of their friends, or just to explore the world in search of special trinkets and treasures.
