Homebrew Apeling Species Details

Yes, we did have a fully Apeling based crew come through our dock once, they were all very extroverted and sang songs as they came through, I guess that's their type. After a few hours they came back and released their boat back out, I wanted to ask more, they seemed like an interesting bunch.

Coming from a supposed far land, Apelings are ape-like humanoids, tending more towards the chimp or monkey side. They are a bit of a more rare race, but they tend to frequent docks and the sea. They are known for being sailors and telling great tales among the people.

Followers of Tales

Most apelings leave their homeland fairly swiftly, and usually peruse tales of riches and glory, in search for the reward told in the tale.

Apelings upon being young in apeling villages, learn lots about sailing the seas and the escapades of greatness. Most apelings become some form of sailor or pirate, others become assistants of that. The others either run shops of workshops for boats, food, weapons, and items of great nautical importance. 

If apelings get other jobs, usually they aren't very successful unless they move to other towns that aren't mainly apelings. Apeling stories of riches waiting to be picked up are very rare, expect an apeling and his crew to be taking some of the gold from the hoard you worked to get to.

 

Apeling Names

Each apeling have names very similar to humans, but they are usually based around the ocean, sand, riches, or sea. And they alternatively could also be named very similar to humans normally.

The names are usually depended on what the parents were like, such as if an apeling father was a pirate who had many riches, he might name his son Gold, or Jules.

Apelings have a frequency of being very extroverted, and happy. They usually act as great leaders upon a situation where one is needed.

They also, of course, need a reason to travel or sail, and if you don't know, you can roll on the table below.

Apelings have lifespans equivalent to humans, except they only live to around 80.

Apelings tend more towards Good alignments, due to their desire to be a hero among the people. They also have a solid potential to be a Chaotic alignment, due to their greedy tendencies, usually imprinted on them at younger ages. 

Size

Apelings are shorter on average than humans and relatively slender. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Seafarer's Teachings

You in your younger days, were taught how to use boats and such, due to the Seafarer, (a demigod among the apelings) being an icon.

Apeling Grip

Due to living in a land of high up places and trees, you have climbing speed of 20 ft.

Apeling Skill

You have proficiency in the Acrobatics and Athletics skills.
