Homebrew Batling Species Details

Batlings, commonly referred to as the night folk are generally quite shy and quiet, and prefer to live in dark caves. They have a thin membrane that they cam spread like wings, but they do not have the thickness in order to fly, so they tend to walk instead.
They have a keen sense of hearing, and actually see better in the dark instead of in the light, making them much more active at night.

They prefer to avoid conflict, and generally resort to spell casting and ranged weapons to close combat. Their sensitive ears easily cause headaches if things around them are too loud, so it is not uncommon to find them walking around in public areas covering their ears.

Batling Traits

Batlings generally have fluff on their chest, large ears and large eyes. The smallest recorded batling was 3 feet tall, as the largest one was about 6 feet tall.

Darkvision

Due to their large, adaptable eyes, they can see in the dark quite well.

Sensitive Ears

Batling's sensitive ears can pick up even the quietest of noises, allowing them to hear up to 30 feet away. Due to this ability, if they are in spaces with too much noise they can get a splitting headache.

Deafening Echo

A loud, high pitched noise emits from their mouth and is used as a defense mechanism. It works better in large, echoed areas but can also be used in other places, even outdoors.
