Homebrew Daikon Species Details

The first Daikon were created by a druid ritual, they were created to work as a medium between the spirit world and material world. The first Daikon were druids. It wasn’t discovered till the first died that they could reproduce by spreading seeds. Fearing over population, the druids prevented them from spreading their seeds on death by isolating them. They quickly worked to fix this problem and as a result on 1 out of 10 seeds could make a Daikon. Daikon are rare to see about the world as they tend to stay among druids. Those that do adventure forth tend to follow the druidic path though they aren’t restricted to them. There are a fair number among the warrior class and rogues are popular.

Physical: Daikon reach maturity only a year after they are born. While named after the Daikon radish, their looks vary as much as there are a variety of radishes. Most of their looks seem to differ depending on the climate they grow in. Their chosen attire seems to vary but usually comes in earthy tones. The tallest daikon ever recorded was 3 feet all weighing a whopping 35 pounds. The average Daikon is 2.5 feet tall and weighs around 20 to 25 pounds.

Homes: Most Daikon live in simple earthy homes full of vibrant naturally growing plant life. At the worst they can dig a hole and live in it like they were a normal plant, though they tend to hate this. Daikon tend to hide what they are when in human settlements as they are generally not viewed as actual sentient creatures. Only sharing what they are with trusted companions. Out of the sentient races, elves and gnomes are the most excepting of the daikon.

Names: Daikon tend not to actually use names. They like to be called by a title or an earned name. Because of this many other adventurers find themselves giving the Daikon a name. The most famous Daikon was a monk that simply went by the name Open Palm. Daikon don’t have a gender and all appear male. It’s not uncommon to find a very small settlement of Daikon where they all go by their job. Settlements are very rare.
