Homebrew Dragon Species Details

Introductory Paragraph

Dragons live far away from the smaller civilizations: living naked, exposed to all nature and all its glory.

Physical Description

Colors can vary from all ranges in this species. They usually stand at 15 feet on their fours, and around 30 on their twos (not counting wings). Their scales are rough and tough; and their claws rather long, specially on the older dragons.

Attitudes and Philosophies

Despite their monster like appearence, dragons hold the element of life and peace very dearly in their spirits. However, they can and will be able to take violence by their side if they become provoked. But as long as the provoking doesn't happen, they will not become a threat.

Other Story Sections

Dragons tend to live at high heights, in the mountains and in the sky reigns. They aren't much of the social type, living alone or by close family.

Names

Dragons have two different names: A particularly long, "official" name; and a one syllable long "nickname". This nickname is given to others once said beings gain the dragon's trust.

For example, a dragon could be officially called Lortidumnandelli, but be referred to a Thu once trusted.

Dragon Traits

Your divine heritage manifests in a variety of traits you share with other dragons.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength and Charisma scores increase by 2.

Rainbow Power

You have the ability to condense elements and free them in your sight, causing 2d6 + Strength psychic damage.

Breath Weapon

As an action, you can exhale deadly energy in an area. Each creature in the area must make a saving throw (DC 8 + proficiency bonus + Charisma modifier). A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. Your Breath Weapon area and save roll is 5 by 30 ft. line (Dex. Save). You can use your breath weapon twice, regaining the expended use when you finish a short or long rest.

This power remains unawakened until a certain point of the story.

Age

Young dragonborn grow quickly. They walk hours after hatching, attain the size and development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 3, and reach adulthood by 15. They live to be around 80.

Alignment

Dragons tend to lean towards the True Neutral side of things, unless exposed to other civilizations for long periods of time.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.
