Homebrew Avarnian Zombie Species Details
The zombies of Avarnia are much like many others; dead bodies brought back from the grave by magic, or some other supernatural force. As you would've guessed, some do obtain free will, and roam the land as lonely scavengers. These conscious undead are rarely come across by adventurers, but when they do, they can actually to be helpful, provided the party didn't attack them straight away. Outside of that, interactions with the fully living are almost nonexistent, so whether they can truly feel emotions is still a mystery.
This race is for those who wish to break the mold, and bring a new undead flavor to the table, whether it be for Halloween or Gothic campaigns, or just for the sheer fun of it.

Undead Resilience
Your undead body is able to endure the hardships of mortal flesh. You gain the following benefits:
- You are immune to Poison damage and the Poisoned condition.
- You are resistant to Necrotic damage.
- When you would gain levels of Exhaustion, you take away one level. For example, if you would gain three levels of exhaustion, you only gain two, and if you would gain one level of exhaustion, you don't gain any.
- You don't need to eat, drink or sleep. When resting, you enter a motionless state that lasts half as long as a short or long rest.
False Death
Try killing something that's already dead. See what happens. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can choose to come back with 1 hit point at the beginning of your next turn, instead of making a death saving throw. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
