Homebrew Cactacae Species Details

Cactacae are large, muscular, prickly plant-like humanoids who are greenish in color. They possess several distinctive biological features that differ them from humans, specifically the fact that sap runs through their veins, rather than blood.

Cactus-people of immense, clumsy strength, often seven or eight feet tall. Their fibrous vegetable flesh is tough to wound and their physical attributes make them valued among labor teams, ship crews, and fighting forces. While cactacae populations are quite distributed, communities in larger cities tend to live in semi-autonomous Glasshouse-like structures. These domes are often large enough to contain multi-storied buildings.

Natural Survivor

You have proficiency in the Survival skill.

Needles

You can focus yourself occasionally to additionally cause damage with your natural needles when attacking within melee range. When you damage a creature with an attack or spell within 5 feet, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra piercing damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Prickly Skin

Your skin in covered in prickly sharp spines dealing extra damage to all those who come in contact with you whom you wish to harm. Creatures who hit you with an unarmed or natural attack receives 1d4 non-magical piercing damage. Additionally if you grapple another creature that creature takes 1d4 non-magical piercing damage at the start of each of its turns so long as it is still grappled by you.

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Giant.
