Homebrew Automaton Species Details
Automatons were first created for the battlefield in the War for Unification, these constructs appeared without warning devastating any enemy in their path. Automatons are made from wood and metal, but they can feel pain and emotion. After the end of the war the technology to create Automatons from the souls of humanoids was marked to the rich and powerful as a from of immortality.
Living Steel and Stone
Automatons are formed from a blend of organic and inorganic materials. Root-like cords infused with alchemical fluids serve as their muscles, wrapped around a framework of steel, darkwood, or stone. Armored plates form a protective outer shell and reinforce joints. Beyond these common elements of warforged design, the precise materials and build of an Automaton vary based on the person for which it was designed.
Although they were manufactured, Automatons are living humanoids. Resting, healing magic, and the Medicine skill all provide the same benefits to warforged that they do to other humanoids.
