Homebrew Anaema Species Details
An insubstantial race of humans living in a world they cannot completely touch.
Appearance
Anaema usually appear with the same range of physical features as humans, their primary difference being in how hey must interact with the world. Anaema require effort to interact with nonmagical, corporeal objects. When their concentration wanes, objects slip through their hands, jewelry slides through their bodies, and they fall through chairs. They cannot even eat or drink without dedicated focus. However, there is a benefit to this half-incorporeality. Nonmagical weapon attacks partially flow through their bodies, as though through a ghost.
Society
Anaema typically reside in enclaves within human societies. Anaeman society prizes pragmatism, tradition, community, and duty and abhor excess, waste, and change. They dress simply and seldom wear jewelry.
As for how they came to be, their are competing theories. They may descend from astral or ethereal travelers, or perhaps they were an ancient society cursed with their current circumstances.
Creator's Note
The Anaema are adapted from the Legends & Lairs: Mythic Races - Character Race Compendium by Fantasy Flight Games, published under the terms of the Open Game License. The book is an amazing collection of 30 incredibly unique races for D&D 3e. This is my 5e interpretation of this race.

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.

Anaema cannot stand waste and haphazard behavior, and are too pragmatic to be entirely selfless. Anaema are typically lawful neutral.

Anaema stand between five and six feet tall and weigh between 120 and 200 pounds on average. Their partially incorporeal state means that when interacting with fully corporeal, non-magical items anaema effectively weigh a little less than a tenth of their true weight. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Insubstantial
Anaema are resistant to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical weapons and immune to non-magical poisons.
Additionally, anaema require concentration to interact with non-magical or fully corporeal objects and creatures. Raging or casting a spell which requires concentration does not affect this. While interacting with non-magical or fully corporeal objects or creatures, your Strength is considered to be 6 points lower than it actually is.
If you fail a concentration check, all non-magical, fully corporeal items that you are equipped with fall to the ground. Small worn objects cause 1 point of force damage if they fall through you, while larger items such as armor cause 1d6 points of force damage.
