Homebrew Abyssling Species Details

 

Abyssal Heritage

Abysslings originated from humans, but their heritage can also be traced to demons from the lower planes.  Their appearance varies depending on their demonic ancestor, however most typically look human but have short pointy horns and skin which could have short fur or scales. An abysslings skin tone is normally a shade of orange or red, but could be any human coloration too.  They also have noticeably sharp teeth and claws.

 

Abyssling Traits

Abysslings have some demonic attributes that make them more resilient.

Demonic Claws

When you make an unarmed strike, you can deal slashing damage, and also attempt to poison your target.  Upon a hit, the target must make a Constitution saving throw. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d8 poison damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength and Charisma scores increase by 1, and your Constitution score increases by 2.

Age

Abysslings mature at the same rate as humans but could over live well over 150 years.

Alignment

Abysslings might not have an innate tendency toward evil, but many of them end up there. Their demonic bloodline tends to make them lean towards a chaotic alignment.

Size

Abysslings are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Abyssal Vision

You have inherited a sense used by powerful demons; truesight, but with very limited range.  You have truesight up to 30 ft.

Abyssal Resilience

You have advantage on Wisdom, Charisma, and Intelligence saving throws against magic.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Abyssal.

Blood Feud

You have disadvantage on Charisma checks when dealing with or talking to a devil.
