Homebrew Demigod Species Details

Born from the union of a deity and a mortal being, demigods have some divine attributes, but their mortal parentage makes them perhaps the weakest of deities. They possess enough divinity to be spectacularly powerful, but lack worshippers, cannot answer prayers, grant spells to clerics, or control aspects of mortal life. Hercules is a good example of a demigod.

Competent and Lasting

Demigods are above average in every way. Their natural limits exceed even the most experienced of adventurers. Their lineage and personal experience may give them particular impressive talent in one area or another, but all of their abilities are almost guaranteed to be above average. 

All demigods are incredibly resilient as well, even those whose classes are generally more physically feeble (i.e. wizards). They can take a record-breaking number of hits before falling in battle, and have a natural resistance to non-magical weapons. It is unknown how long the typical demigod can live naturally; they are perhaps immortal. But power draws power, and usually they find themselves the victim of a super-human threat whose power surpassed even their own. 

Subraces

Ancient divides among the elven people resulted in three main subraces: high elves, wood elves, and dark elves, who are commonly called drow. Choose one of the two subraces presented below or one from another source. In some worlds, these subraces are divided still further (such as the sun elves and moon elves of the Forgotten Realms), so if you wish, you can choose a narrower subrace.

CHILDREN OF AKADI

Akadi is the Goddess of Movement, Speed, and Air Elementals, and her children are graceful and nimble. They are naturally Dexterous, have a walking speed bonus of +10, and can cast the Jump spell on themselves at will, even as a bonus action. Children of Akadi know the Gustcantrip. Additionally, they can use a reaction to have the wind cushion their fall, as if they had cast Feather Fall.

CHILDREN OF AZUTH

Azuth is the God of Wizards, Mages, and Spellcasters in general, and his children are inclined toward the arcane arts. They are naturally Intelligent, and have proficiency in Arcana. Once per long rest, Children of Azuth can spend one minute meditating to restore one expended spell slot of any level.

CHILDREN OF CYRIC

Cyric is the God of Murder, Lies, Intrigue, Strife, and Illusion, and his children have a silver tongue, forked though it may be. They are naturally Charismatic, and have proficiency in Deception. Children of Cyric have advantage on Insight checks to discern truthfulness. Additionally, they can use an action to activate 1 minute of Truesight after which they must complete a short or long rest to use their Truesight again.

CHILDREN OF LOVIATAR

Loviatar is the Goddess of Pain, Hurt, Agony, Torment, Suffering, and Torture, and her children have an incredible endurance for pain. They have a hearty Constitution, and have proficiency in Intimidation. Once per long rest, Children of Loviatar can use a reaction to make an enemy experience the exact same type and amount of damage that they just dealt to Child of Loviatar. Resistances, immunities, and vulnerabilities apply as normal.

CHILDREN OF MYRKUL

Myrkul is the God of Corruption, the Dead, Death, and Old Age, and his children have a natural understanding of the workings and limitations of the human body. They possess an impressive Wisdom, and have proficiency in Medicine. At will, they can cast Touch of Death, a unique spell which can inflict a mortal disease.

CHILDREN OF SELÛNE

Selûne is the Goddess of the Moon, Stars, Navigation, Prophecy, Questers, and Good and Neutral lycanthropes, and her children have a persistent, sly awareness. They are naturally Wise, and have proficiency in Stealth due to their affinity to the twilight. They have a natural resistance to light-based and lightning attacks. Once per long rest, they can summon a Moon Blade, a magical sword which, upon a hit, prevents the target from casting spells on their next turn.

CHILDREN OF SILVANUS

Silvanus is the God of Wild Nature and Druids, and his children have a obviously strong bond with nature. They exhibit their Wisdom through their connection with nature, and have proficiency in Nature. They can choose one Level 1 Druid spell to cast at will without expending a spell slot, as many times as they would like.

CHILDREN OF TEMPUS

Tempus is the God of War, Battle, and Warriors, and his children are fierce combatants. Their Strength is unrivalled, and in the heat of Battle they regenerate hitpoints constantly. Children of Tempus are rarely separated from their weapon. By attuning to a magical or non-magical weapon, they can summon it at will to their hand as a bonus action, as long as it is on the same plane of existence

.CHILDREN OF WAUKEEN

Waukeen is the Goddess of Trade, Money, and Wealth, and her children are natural salesmen. Their Charisma is a force to be reckoned with, and they are proficient in Persuasion. Once per long rest, Children of Waukeen can create 1d100 coins of copper, silver, or gold, which can even be used as an attack.

Demigod Traits

The demigod is well equipped to stand above the average man (or the average adventurer) due to his godly lineage.

Ability Score Increase

One ability score of your choice and another ability score determined by your parentage are increased by +4. The rest increase by +2. The maximum score of all of your ability scores increase by +2.

Age

Although demigods reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, they may live for thousands of years unless killed.

Alignment

Demigods have a variety of alignments, often influenced by their specific parent.

Darkvision

Your superhuman eyes give you superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Divine Resistance

You have advantage against being Charmed, Frightened, or Poisoned, or and you are immune to being put to sleep by magic.

You are resistant to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical items.

Supreme Constitution

Whenever you level up, you do not roll a hit die or take the average to determine HP. Instead, you gain take the highest roll possible for your respective hit die.

Supplemental Spellcasting

Demigods channel a natural divine energy that can be used to supplement magic. You can ignore spell components of 100gp or less when using an arcane focus.

Size

Demigods are roughly as tall as humans, possibly a half foot taller on average.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 40 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and two other languages.
