From moon we are born

From earth we claim our bounty

Alchemy our art

— Unknown, Traditional Chinu  Poem

A constant hum of busy activity pervades the the hole homes and communist where Chinu form their lives. Vibrant gardens hold the clacking of mortar and pestle marking the area for a Chinu in their element at home. Chinu are curios little creatures who love to experiment, even in leisure there minds are always wandering and imagining there next breakthrough.

Rabbits of the moon

A Chinu's structure is everything to them, this can be seen from how they braid and clean there hair and fur to keep it as clean as fresh fallen snow. Chinu average slightly over 3 feet tall not counting the ears and weigh 40 to 45 pounds. They reach maturity at age 12 and can live as long as 50 naturally. Commonly there eyes are rimmed with dark fur and there mouths are extended in a small muzzle ending in pink noses. On their bodies there fur is kept immaculately clean, to have dirty fur is uncouth at the best of times.

In style as in manner the Chinu keep neat, the hair on there heads is styled in a long braid down there back in a manner called the Queue. These braids are kept unadorned as is there ears and body fur. In dress they prefer bright colors particularly red and gold but keep the gold to an appropriate level as incurred by there station among there community.

Alchemic Artists

Each and every Chinu is well taught that there race invented Alchemy and they are rightly proud of this achievement. They are also taught at birth that a job well done is one that you take pride in making them a race of dedicated artists in all things but to alchemy they hold the highest honor. This is why they hold themselves with such restraint, anyone who has worked with the volatile concoctions of alchemy can attest one wrong move can lead to disaster.

In Speach they differ from there outward appearance rather than being reserved and calm they often come off as scatterbrained and even absent minded as they tend to work on so many problems at once it overwhelms others. When you can get them to focus however they solve problems with a gusto and creative mind that only an enthused artist can muster.

Though they love alchemy and art with a gusto they equally like food, particularly anything they have never cooked/eaten themselves already. Art, Alchemy, and Cooking are so intertwined with them that if they even tried to separate them even as far as in their thoughts is next to impossible.

Bright Burrows

Chinu make their homes in hilly, wooded lands and hilly valleys. They live in underground burros but get more fresh air than Dwarves do, enjoying the natural, living world on the surface whenever they can, via there farms and alchemic gardens. Their cities are a sires of tunnels and rooms that lead out to there gardens, docks, and farmlands. Welcome visitors are quickly ushered into the bright, warm burrows. Those who are not welcome are unlikely to find the burrows in the first place, but if they do they find themselves at the wrong ends of alchemist weapons.

Gnomes who settle in human lands are commonly gemcutters, engineers, sages, or tinkers. Some human families retain gnome tutors, ensuring that their pupils enjoy a mix of serious learning and delighted enjoyment. A gnome might tutor several generations of a single human family over the course of his or her long life.
