Homebrew Drachenmann Species Details

Jirsha burst from the swamp water with a blood-curdling roar. Four thug-like humans spun in shock at the sudden appearance of the slightly feminine form of a humanoid lizard leaping into their midst and reached for weapons, but Jirsha had the advantage. Her javelin flew true, striking the human furthest from her position. Landing amidst the other three, her strong tail knocked the legs out from beneath the male to her right and slightly behind her. Meanwhile, Jirsha ripped the claws on her right hand through the throat of the female in front of her. Her left hand swiped at the male on her left, but the man leaned backwards out of reach. Jirsha wasn't done yet though, for she snapped her long snout forward, locking her powerful jaws on the male's throat, only to immediately rear back, taking flesh and blood with her. She turned to the uninjured male, who was only just now struggling to his feet, eyes wide with terror.

"Take thisss messsage back to your people, human. Blackthorn swamp belongs to Clan Rootfang. We will not ssstand by while humanss hunt our people. Any humanss found in our territory will be ssslaughtered.

The human nodded nervously. Jirsha could smell fresh urine on the male. One final, violent hiss sent the male clawing his way to his feet into a stumbling run away from her and her people.

Proud Tribal People

Drachenmann look very much like lizards standing erect in humanoid form, though they lack wings. The Drachenmann often have scales of vibrant hues matching the colors of their natural environment. Their scales are usually thicker than that off dragonborn. They are tall and strongly built, often standing close to 7½ feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talonlike claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand. Their tails are powerful and are sometimes ridged with bony spurs. Some rare few even have horns, though the more common  Drachenmann look upon such specimens as blessed by the gods, or at least spawned by a nearby dragon.

Self-Sufficient Clans

To any Drachenmann, the tribe is more important than life itself. Drachenmann owe their devotion and respect to their tribe above all else, even the gods. Each individual's conduct reflects on the honor of his or her tribe, and bringing dishonor to the tribe can result in expulsion and exile. Each Drachenmann knows his or her station and duties within the tribe, and survival demands maintaining the bounds of that position.

Five types of draconians, corresponding to the five types of metallic dragons, fought for Takhisis in the War of the Lance: auraks (gold), baaz (brass), bozak (bronze), kapak (copper), and sivak (silver). In place of their draconic breath weapons, they have unique magical abilities.
