Homebrew Acidic parasite Species Details
Life of a Acidic parasite
Most people are to assume parasites are a nuisance among the mighty and terrifying beast that roam this earth, but that is far from the truth. Being a Acidic Parasite, you will bond and develop with your new found host, using and providing for them in a ways which only you will understand with time. This type of play style will require cunning persistence and quick thinking to stay alive. You’re always in danger and fear of being ripped away from your host. Your biggest weakness after all is doing nothing and wait for the inevitable to happen. Fortunately you do have tricks and utilities up your sleeve to always stay on top of the enemy.
Persistence
Unlike most parasites, you have a fond and everlasting connection with your host of which you need to help and keep alive, to continue living as a happy and healthy provider. Acidic parasites control most of the host’s body, but host’s do occasionally have the ability to fight back if so desired. Furthermore the Acidic Parasite tends to its host as best as it can, being able to defend itself quite well. It’s use of ‘Acid spray’ and ‘Escape Plan’ keep it well on its guard and ready for anything.
Parasites Bane
As suspected you are weak and fragile when without your host, you suffer multiple consequences and punishments for every action you take without a host. The Acidic Parasite after all spends most of its life without any parents or guardian to watch over or teach them the ropes. This causes the parasite to undergo several changes in the early beginning of its neglected lifespan, wether it likes it or not.
Family Weakness
As a freshly newborn, you lack the proper skills, and experience to take over a wide variety of hosts. As such, this doesn’t leave you with many options and are forced to be born within one host of your choice. Acidic parasites usually remain in there host’s stomach when being born and are helped by there parents until fully matured to properly invade the host’s body. Signs of a parasitic take over include the following:
- Feelings of a bloated stomach.
- Red and itchy ears.
- Increase in hunger.
- Losing the ability to talk.
- Stomach pains.
Race cases of parasitic take over include:
- Cabalistic urges.
- Loss of mental acuity and rational thinking.
- Speaking in languages you don’t have knowledge of, and or haven’t learned in the past.
- Rapid eye swelling.
Acidic parasite Traits
Acidic Parasites share racial traits and mutations based on there hosts.Parasitic Tongue
Due to your mutualism and placement inside your host, you grant them to be able to speak, read, and write three languages of your choice. This also includes common.
Mind Burrow
When starting out, you have the choice between what host you start out with. Due to minimal aging, you lack the experience of keeping total and complete control of particular hosts. Therefore you either start off the campaign as a humanoid host, or an undead host.
To enter a host, you are able to slip in through the ear and replace the host’s tongue, the following will determine your play style:
- Humanoid hosts: Humanoid Hosts require a steady supply of food, water, and any other necessities that any normal human would. You also will need to feed yourself, making sure to ration every drop and crumb of food for you and your host.
- Undead hosts: Undead hosts require no food, or water, nor do they need to breath or sleep. But you still will need to nourish yourself from time to time.
Even though you’ve replaced the host’s tongue, they are still able to speak regularly. The host’s voice or tone will not change despite this.
Acidic Spray
Acidic Parasites gain the ability to spray acid at will when opening the hosts mouth.
If the acid makes contact, take 1d12 acid damage. (Plus your constitution Modifier.)
You may only this this ability three times, before having to take a long rest. You are also resistant to Acid damage.
Parasitic Mutations
Thanks to your rapid methods and effective take over, you grant your host a boost to rival the competition.
As an added boost to your host, gain +3 to your Dexterity modifier.

You have disadvantage on all intelligence rolls, and everything pertaining to it.
Escape Plan
You are cunning and plan ahead for the future, as it is always un-predictable.
When your host’s health reaches 10 or below you have the option to terminate your host, at the cost of safety you gain an upper hand to flee and control. If you manage to successfully manage to hit your target, the following happens:
Roll “Escape Plan” (Plus your constitution modifier) as an action to fling yourself into another host’s body. If you roll anywhere from 1-15 you suffer from the “Soft and Fragile” Racial Trait. If you roll a 16-20 or higher you successfully insert yourself into your new host’s body. If successful hit, they are your’s to control. If you fail, you suffer from the “Soft and Fragile” Racial trait, until you are able to find a new host. (Your new host takes damage regardless if you fail or not.)
All racial traits will now apply to your new host.
