Homebrew Axamira Species Details

"I had been traveling through a forest one day when I happened upon a remarkable cat,”  Arwin said curiously. He found it strange to encounter a cat so deep in the forests, away from any forms of warmth, comfort, or civlization. It was not long before the cat, covered in sleek white fur and heterochromatic eyes of blue and green--like living gems--transformed into a stunning woman in the middle of the forest.

Axamira are a magical people of predatory grace, living in the world but not entirely part of it. They live in places of natural beauty, in the midst of magnificent forests or in wooden treetop cities. Axamira love nature and magic, hunting and mischief, and the good things of the world. While their physical appearances are almost completely human, the only thing that betrays their magical heritage is in the eyes. Their feline eyes are a tell-tale marker of their shapeshifting abilities, limited to the shape of felines. The hair of an Axamira in humanoid form reflects the coloring of their fur in cat form. They spend just as much time in their humanoid forms as they do in their feline forms, dancing through treetops with cat-like grace on four and two legs alike.

Slender and Graceful

With their unearthly grace and delicate features, Axamira appear stunningly beautiful to humans and many other races. They are the same size as humans on average, ranging from about 5 feet tall to just over 6 feet. Males and females are about the same height, and males are only marginally taller than females.

Axamira’s coloration encompasses the normal human range, with hair of white or silver, and eyes like pools of liquid gold or sapphire blue. They favor simple, practical clothing in muted colors, and they enjoy lovely jewelry--the shinier, the better.

A Timeless Perspective

Axamira can live much longer than humans, maybe nine times that of an average human life. They are easily amused and excited, and sometimes overly curious and mischievous. They tend to remain aloof and unfazed by petty skirmishes and are wary of strangers. When pursuing a goal, however, whether on a mission or hunting, Axamira are focused and relentless. They are slow to make friends and quick to make enemies, and even slower to forget them. They reply to insults with disdain and to serious insults with vengeance and claws.

Like to their feline ancestors, Axamira are flexible and creative in the face of danger. They have been known to retreat from intrusions into their homes, knowing that they can simply wait the invaders out be retreating into the canopies. But when the need arises, Axamira reveal a stern martial side, demonstrating mastery of sword, bow, and magic.

Hidden Woodland Realms

Axamira dwell in expansive forest civilizations hidden among the canopies. Axamira hunt game (as they are exclusively carnivorous), and their skill and magic allow them to support themselves with little need for contact with the outside world.

Exploration and Adventure

Axamira take up adventuring out of wanderlust, often bored of navigating the maze of treetops and wishing to descend driven by almost deadly curiosity. Since they are long-lived, they can enjoy centuries of exploration and discovery. They dislike human society, which they consider to be chaotic, uncivilized and barbaric. Axamira also enjoy exercising their martial prowess or gaining greater magical power, and adventuring allows them to do so.
