Homebrew Brykan Species Details

The Brykan are born in a litter of infants. They are only a few centre metres long at birth and they all make their way to a teat where they gain nourishment. Not all of the litter find their way and some get nocked of their teat while the mother is moving. The Brykan’s four arms makes it possible for them to hold on very well. When they become to heavy for the mother to carry she will remove them and feed them one at a time. Usually at this stage all that are alive will reach adult hood. The Brykan young grow very fast and reach full mature size in 5 years. Although they do not reach maturity in the eyes of other Brykan to the age of 25-30 years. The Brykan will spend their pre-adult years learning a trade of their parents. The males will usually learn manual trades. Whereas the females will usually learn to read and write and to learn scholarly things. The Brykan do evolutionary process and can evolve into a specialist or higher creature. And can devolve back to a basic Brykan if the need is great, as only the basic Brykan can reproduce. During the devolution, the Brykan have a 50/50 % chance of being male or female, regardless of what they were the first time. The Brykan prefer cooler mountainous plateaus. It is believed that they originate from a very mountainous planet with a cooler base climate. When Travelling the Brykan prefer to stay close to mountains and moving to far away from them will make them feel uneasy. Although the Brykan can see very well in moon light they still prefer the day for normal activities. The night is left to the protectors and guardians of the tribe. The Brykan prefer to stay out of combat situations and allow The guardians to do all the fighting and the protectors tend to dispatch anyone near who are prejudice against Brykan. The Brykan have limited fighting ability but can be trained to become very good fighters with their four arms and their split mind ability. |

Extra set of Eyes
fur covered occular projections that open when the light level becomes dim, they allow the Brykan to see in the dark and provides some vision in complete darkness
Gives Darkvision to 60 ft and Blind sight to 10ft
Fur covered body
The Brykan as a thick fur covering their body, good for keeping them warm and provides some protection from cold damage
The Brykan is considered warm in cold environments
The Brykan has resistance to Cold damage
A complex body requires a complex mind
The compartmentalisation of a Brykan mind allows them to segment their mind, blocking away or reducing the effects of mental conditions
Gives advantage to Int, Cha and Wis Save throws
Split mind
The ability to take the compartmentalised mind and split it into two destinct calculating operations, this enables then to perform complex and unual mental and physical operation.
There are 4 types of operations a Brykan can make, the physical can be done only once per turn, the mental are a constant state.
1) When taking the attack action once per turn to cause additional damage, for each additional weapon used in this attack add a +1 to damage for each additional weapons used in the attack.
Damage caused equals the primary weapons damage including proficency or stat bonuses plus +1 for each additional weapon used (eg 4 short sword = 1d6+5 (+2,+3) + 3 )
If a critical is rolled then damage equals the the die roll for each weapon x 2 for critical + modifiers e.g. (4 shortswords on a critical equal (4d6 x 2) + 5)

2) When taking the attack action to perform a ranged attack once per turn with more than one Bow / Crossbow you gain a +1 tohit for each additional arrow fired on a hit only one arrow damage is taken unless a critical hit is made then roll damage for a critical for each arrows damage.
or
3) When taking the attack action they may choose to attack different targets with each ranged weapon rolling to-hit and Damage as a normal attack
and
4) The Brykan can pattern spells between the segments allowing the caster to add their Intelligence or Wisdom modifier to their spell DC and spell attack value.
