Homebrew Abyssal Octopus Species Details
While aimlessly coasting near the seabed of Saltmarsh, a wisp of chaotic Abyssal energy imbued a simple octopus with a heightened sense of intelligence, curiosity, and desire for chaos and destruction. After tirelessly searching for a means to walk on land you stumbled across a wrecked shipment of advanced pieces of joint dwarven, gnomish and human engineering went missing in a storm, thought lost. A magical diving suit. While in the suit you can walk on land for a day, until you have to clean out and replace the water inside the suit. As it is filled with water to give the suit body and you comfortable environment your walking speed is reduced by 10ft, when in the suit. Now with the means to wreck havoc both on land and sea, what problems will you and your eight limbs cause?

You gain +1 Charisma and +2 to Intelligence
Age
Octopi reach maturity after one year, and live no more than a decade, unless they were imbued with Abyssal energy then their life expectancy would go to fifty years.
Alignment
Octopi might have an innate tendency toward evil, as many of them end up there. Evil or not, an independent nature inclines many Octopi toward a chaotic alignment.
Darkvision
Thanks to your deep-sea adaptations, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.
Aquatic Nature
You resist Cold damage. While not submerged, you are weak to Fire. Also, you can breathe underwater.
Boneless Body
You can squeeze into spaces one size smaller than your size (advantage on dexterity checks). You can move through spaces occupied by creatures larger than yourself (advantage on dexterity checks).
Language
You can speak, read, and write Common and Abyssal.
Tentacular Speed
Your base walking speed is 35 feet. However, for every object you hold, decrease this by 5 feet, to a minimum of half your base speed.
Tentacles
You have advantage on Grapple checks, and you have advantage on all checks against a Grappled creature.

Posted Aug 3, 2021All creatures can already squeeze into a space one size smaller than them, so that feature basically does nothing. Shouldn't they have swimming speed too?
There's also no rules here for the multiple arms. Can it wield 4 greataxes at once, for example?
