He watched as the snowy owl that had perched itself upon the old man’s shoulder, launched off with a single flap of its wings. If he had blinked at the moment he would have missed seeing the sudden motions midair of the once bird becoming a man, landing with such ease that his landing barely made a sound against the grass. 

The stranger walked with a sort of grace of someone who is unbothered by the ruckus that had brought the noisy rogue near, with a rather unamused look as he smoothed out his grey suit. Even in the dark, he could see the peppered greys of his hair and the golden flecks that fade away in his eyes.

“Part of the high court,” the birdling cut in sharply “and a witness to your traitorous habit. Little bird, we have much to talk about.”

Birdling Traits

Decedents of harpies, birdlings retain the ability to transform between a bird, human, and harpy form.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Birdlings age at the same rate as humans, dying typically between 70-90.

Transformation

Being able to transform is a coming-of-age for birdling when you are able to shift between all three. 

Bird Detection

By touching a bird, you will be able to sense if it is just a normal bird or a birdling in its bird form. Be careful, since not many birdlings like being handled without permission.

Flight

You have a flying speed of whatever bird species you chose. In harpy form, add 10 ft. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor as a harpy.

Talons

Your talons are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

You can understand and speak to birds (but they speak in one-worded obscure words) and as well communicate to birdlings in their bird form.
