Homebrew Demonic Spectre Species Details

A once living being who was afflicted with a curse of immortality, reborn as a spectral figure wandering the world feasting on souls in order to break the curse. A Demonic Specter is both undead and humanoid spirit that is required to consume 100 organic souls in order to remove the curse and embrace their eternal rest. Demonic Specters are created from Infernal Warlocks, or Wicked Sorcerers wishing to torment their victims tying them to an arduous and hellish ordeal in the world of the living. Sometimes they are even created in desperation in order to preserve the life and memory of a loved one. No matter how a Demonic Specter is born, however, they must constantly and consistently consume souls. Failure to do so will result in the individual gradually losing their mind and eventually becoming a mindless spirit of horrors, lashing out on any and all who trespass.

Demonic Specter Traits

Ability Score Increase
+2 to Wisdom or Intelligence and +1 to a stat of your choice.

Age
Immortal or some use the age of their former body rather be it the time of which they passed away, or continuing to track their age even after the loss of their physical form.

Alignment
Most Demonic Specter's tend to remain with the alignment they had while they were living, but some beings wills and ideals change as they face eternity after eternity or the deadline of their mindless transformation.

Spirit Vision
You can see the spirits of those who have passed away if they still linger and can see 60ft in Darkness and 5-10ft into the Ethereal Plane.

Living Spirit
Demonic Specters can eat, sleep and drink, but have no need to and it doesn't fill their hunger for souls. The curse will never let  a demonic specter truly die, if a demonic spirit is downed they gain advantage on saving throws. If a Demonic Spirit is dead they are reborn as a mindless Apparition and return to the one who afflicted the curse upon the user. If the user is deceased or not in the same plane of existence to where the Demonic Spirit fell, it just turns on whomever is nearest.

Ethereal Form
Demonic Specter's have resistance to cold damage.
At 3rd level you are able to hover above the ground allowing you to hover up to 5ft in the air for half of your walking speed.

Soul Eater
When a being or creature is killed they leave behind an essence of their spirit, Demonic Specters are able to consume the spirit, healing for 1d4+ player level.

Languages
Your Demonic Spirit can read, speak and write one Common Language, and their choice between Infernal, Celestial and Abyssal.

Demonic Spectre Traits

As a Demonic Specter , you have many options and versatile ways to approach situations and sustain yourself in combat. Being able to fly at high speed starting at 1st level and gaining advantage on physical attacks toward you is exceptionally effective. However, having a negative 2 Constitution makes you incredibly fragile. As a result, playing a Demonic Specter requires special consideration by your DM.
