Homebrew Android Species Details
Androids were created to serve a multitude of purposes for their humanoid creators. From servants to assassins to intimate companions, androids serve any role that can be imagined.
Living Flesh and Metal
Made of inorganic materials and high-tech mechanations hidden underneath a layer of synthetic flesh and muscle and blood, androids can take the shape of any race known to exist, a facsimile of that existence they imitate almost perfectly in the most superficial sense.
Although they are manufactured, androids still hold some remnants of humanoid existence. Resting and magic provide the same healing benefits to androids as healing and medicine do to other humanoids.
Conditional Death
Androids do not die the same way as most others do. Their bodies can take an exorbitant amount of damage, allowing them to keep fighting past the point of reaching 0 HP.
Every quarter past 0 HP increases the level of Exhaustion rendered to the body.
a) 1/4 over max HP damage: Increase level of Exhaustion
b) 1/2 over max HP damage: Increase level of Exhaustion
c) 3/4 over max HP damage: Increase level of Exhaustion
Once the damage received has exceeded the characters Max HP, a Death Save with a DC 15 will have to be made. Even if this is met, the android will still suffer Level 3 Exhaustion until they are properly healed and mended. This can be achieved with Artificer Tools with a DC 18 check, or if they are taken to a repair shop. Until this condition is met, the android will continue to suffer whatever level of Exhaustion they were at until healed.
Android Personality
Androids are as varied in their personality composition as any true flesh and blood race. Most androids are crafted with certain personalities their creators deemed were most suited for their intended purposes. Others are given full control over their own characteristics upon initiation.
Android Names
Androids are often either given numerical designations or a proper name by their creators. It is rare that they are given the opportunity to choose a name for themselves. Those that do often do it as a means to cut ties to their original creators, or for very specific purposes for which they were designed for.
Android Limitations
Androids, though created to fill in a variety of roles, are limited in the classes they can partake in. Androids cannot be any of the following:
a) Barbarian
b) Fighter
c) Ranger
d) Paladin
e) Blood Hunter
