Homebrew Ayleid Species Details
It's more common for an ayleid to look at the others races oddly. Most ayleids are raised in forests far from civilization; so all they know is themselves. While not as dissented as teiflings, ayleids in civilization are still looked at as curses and inhumane. More than half the time their ancestors didn't even make a deal with any arch-fey, the arch-fey was just being themself; playing a prank on mere mortals.
Fey Bloodline
Ayleids are derived from human bloodlines, and in the broadest possible sense, they still look human. However, their fey heritage has left a clear imprint on their appearance. Ayleids have large horns that take any of a variety of shapes: some have curling horns like a ram, others have straight and tall horns like a gazelle’s, and some spiral upward like an antelopes’ horns. They have a variety of tails, ranging from stubs to long and slender or mid-length and fluffy, which all seem to betray their true feelings. Their eyes are solid colors—blue, green, white, silver, or gold and more—with no visible sclera or pupil. Their skin tones cover the full range of human coloration, but also include various chromatic arrangements. Their hair, cascading down from behind their horns, is usually dark, from black or brown to dark red, blue, or purple and sometimes in the green range..
Self-Reliant and Wonderstruck
Ayleids who grew up in the wilderness, which is most of them, learn the ways of the forest quickly. When civilization came to them though; they stood there awestruck by the wonders of man. Those that do grow up in cities or towns end up having an opposite sensation when wandering into the wilderness; they sit and let nature take them over, returning where they should be.
