Homebrew Voidforged. Species Details
Void Crystal
Somewhere within the Voidforged's form is a void crystal which is the powerhouse and tether that keeps it alive and sentient. When a Voidforged falls unconscious its nebulous form flickers as it is about to dissipate, making the void crystal visible through its form.
The void crystal is akin to an uncut black or purple gemstone, however it is deceptively heavy, weighing on average 30-40 pounds, as much as a small creature.
The void crystal has your base unarmoured AC, and shares your stats.
Minds of Many
Being a collection of souls from all walks of life, Voidforged often recall esoteric information or skills, perhaps from an older soul of a historian, artisan, warrior or mage. This can often be reflected in their personality too, where they can be timid at times and exceptionally brash at others.
Formless
Voidforged take the vague shape of a humanoid, and can willingly switch between those that create the whole, but settling on a preferred appearance in a way to solidify a semblance of identity. Because of their lack of distinctive features, Voidforged often wear distinctive clothing or armour, and often masks and helmets, to stand out and make it easier for others to more comfortably see and interact with them.
Voidforged. Traits
Your Voidforged character has the following traits. A few of the traits give you a choice; consider how your choice reflects the purpose for which your character was built.Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 2, and one other ability score of your choice increases by 1.
Age
Voidforged lifespans remain a mystery; so far, Voidforged have shown no signs of deterioration due to age. You are immune to magical aging effects.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Everything you see in darkness is in a shade of purple.
Esoteric Knowledge
You gain proficiency in History and one other skill and a tool proficiency of your choice.
Void Resilience
Being of the void, you have remarkable fortitude represented by the following benefits:
- You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
- You have resistance to cold damage.
- You don't need to eat, drink, or breathe.
- You are immune to disease.
Into The Void
When you take a long rest, you must spend at least four hours within the void crystal rather than sleeping. In this state, you cannot don any armour or weapons but it doesn't render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.
Voidform
Starting at level 3, once per long rest you can turn into a formless black and purple mist, you drop everything you were wearing and carrying, and can move up to 100 feet from the source of your void crystal. You hover 5 feet above the ground and are immune to fall damage. You must return to your void crystal to reform. In this form you have the following benefits:
- You are resistant to nonmagical damage.
- You can move through small holes, narrow openings, and even mere cracks, though it treats liquids as though they were solid surfaces.
- You have advantage on Stealth checks and expertise in Stealth whilst in Voidform.
In this form you can't manipulate or otherwise interact with objects. You can't attack or cast spells. If a Voidforged drops to 0 hit points in this state it automatically fails a death saving throw.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
