Homebrew Bluetusk Orc Species Details
Native to the deserts of Rahadoum, Thuvia and Osirion, Bluetusk orcs are a subtype of orc with an innate connection to the natural essence of their orcish kin and the spirits of their tribal ancestors. This connection is manifested in the form of the bluetusk’s famed and feared blue teeth. Through these razor-sharp fangs a Bluetusk may lash out with the fury and power of his tribal heritage.
Bluetusk orcs share intense tribal bonds. They aren't any more advanced technologically than other orcs, but socially they are much less savage. Natives of the desert, bluetusks learn from a very young age that every member of the nomadic tribe is a valuable part of a greater whole and as the tent settlements of the bluetusk traverse the Southern deserts every orc contributes to the tribe’s survival.
As natives or the wastes arcane Magic is rare amongst the bluetusk and is considered a frivolous pursuit. Clerics are rare with druids and shamans fulfilling those typical roles among the tribes. With the ban on divine magic in Rahadoum it is rare for tribes to openly flout these divine casters however. Traditionally a single bluetusk sits on the Council of Elders in Azir as a representative of the bluetusk people but no bluetusk has yet been elected to Keeper of the First Law.
Bluetusks regard normal orcs as somewhat backward, but good company none the less. Dwarves are deadly foes to be respected and treated with care. Elves are considered arrogant, condescending, flighty and unreliable at best and a menace to be exterminated at worst. Halflings are witless children with a tendency to lay their sticky little fingers where they shouldn't and gnomes are worse. Humans tend to be taken on a case by case basis.
Bluetusk tradition demands that any non-Bluetusk who touches a Bluetusk tooth without permission must die (notwithstanding bites inflicted upon each other during ‘fang duels’), and any lost teeth should be ground up and consumed if possible.
Bluetusk orcs are shorter and slimmer than Mountain orcs or even most Half-orcs. Their frames are wiry and tough. Their jaws contains two rows (top and bottom) of sharp blue teeth with quite prominent blue tusks protruding from the bottom jaw, if any of these are ever broken or lost they slowly grow back over a period of several days. Skin-colour tends toward shades of grey fading to brighter shades of blue along their sides and neck.
