Homebrew Concubus Species Details

Concubi are the iconic depiction of lust. Feared for their typically evil nature and ability to steal one's soul, concubi are fiends who wield subtle illusions and enchantments to tempt their victims into forfeiting their eternal souls. Concubi inhabit all of the Lower Planes, and the lascivious dark-winged fiends can be found in service to devils, demons, night hags, rakshasas, and yugoloths. Asmodeus, ruler of the Nine Hells, uses these fiends to tempt mortals to perform evil acts. The demon lord Graz'zt keeps succubi and incubi as advisers and consorts.

Concubi often live up to their reputation, acting as seductive females (succubus) or males (incubus) to lure preys into relinquishing some of their life-force. Particularly adept at controlling others in the peak of their strength, they're often employed, albeit reluctantly, by others to act as crowd control, or to tame certain creatures. Most of them, though not all, share the nature of their reputation; flirtatious. Some avoid fighting where possible, instead choosing seduction or fleeing.

Beautiful Fiends

Incubi and succubi vary in appearances, but share some common physical traits. Height varies between 4’5 to 7’, and build changes from individual to individual. Though their illusionary disguise can take any medium humanoid form, their true forms have many similarities. Their eyes lack pupils, and are most commonly gold, silver, black, or white, though other colours have been seen. Hair, likewise, can be just about any colour or style. Concubi have horns and tails the same way tieflings do, which occasionally gets them mixed up, but also have leathery wings sprouting from their lower back, usually black. Some also have hooves in place of feet, and all have pointy ears reminiscent of an elf’s. But their most noticeable trait, the first thing everybody notices about concubi, is how incredibly attractive every single one of them are. There is no such thing as an ugly concubi, no matter how many conventionally unattractive traits they may have.

Disdainful Creatures

By nature, a concubus tends to be jealous and prideful. They hate not being perceived as the prettiest being in the room, and have a natural tendency to dislike celestial creatures. While some learn to overcome this issue, or never even had it in the first place, those who don’t often develop a reputation as snooty brats, or dangerously self-absorbed monsters.

Even when confined within the nine hells, that remains a problem. Concubi often turn against each other, making a competition out of who’s the prettiest, who gets the most preys, who serves their master the best when that applies... those petty conflicts usually end in casualties, not always limited to those who were fighting.

Humanoid Illusion

You can use your action to change into a medium humanoid form, or back into your true form. This form can mimic any normal humanoid, such has humans, orcs, tieflings, and elves. Without wings, you lose your flying speed. Other than your size and speed, your statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment you are wearing or carrying isn't transformed. You are considered to be a Shapechanger or a Shapeshifter for the purpose of spell effects.

If you die, your corpse reverts back to its natural form.

When in your humanoid form, you are considered humanoid; when in your true form, you are considered a fiend. Certain spells and effects that specifically deal in detection will always count you as a fiend, these include Detect Evil and Good and a Paladin's Divine Sense.
