Homebrew Cambion Species Details

"They crawl from their mothers' wombs to spread corruption throughout the multiverse. What's not to love?"

— Baba Yaga

Hell's Offspring

A cambion is formed from an unholy union between a fiend and humanoid (usually between a succubus/incubus and a human). Cambions inherit many aspects of both parents, but their short, pointed horns, leathery wings, and slender, sinewy tails are hallmarks of their otherworldly parentage. Their skin tones cover few colors of normal humanoid colorations, mainly including various shades of red. In most other aspects, they're body structure and frame are similar to that of their humanoid parent.

The Pawns of the Powerful

A cambion that is mainly forced to serve its fiendish parent does so out of its own admiration of their power, and fear of the consequences of doing otherwise. However, they also  expect to one day rise to their place of power, through loyalty, deception, or their own might. Cambion raised in the Nine Hells serve mainly as soldiers, envoys, as well as personal attendants to greater devils within the Hells. Cambion raised in the Abyss, they only carry as much authority as they can muster with their own willpower and brute strength.

MUTUAL MISTRUST

Cambion are about as mistrusted and outcasted from humanoid societies as their fiendish parents. As is what is assumed, their personality, morality are all affected by their half-fiendish blood. Cambion who aren't as evil as first anticipated have years of dealing with mistrust, which leaves its mark on them. Each cambion will respond to it in different ways. Some choose to live up to the twisted stereotypes claimed by man, but others might just be virtuous and benevolent. Most are rather just quite aware of how people respond to them. After dealing with such mistrust and prejudice, cambion often develop the ability to overcome prejudice through charm or intimidation, or through means of disguising themselves.

Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. During it, at the start of your turn you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier, and once on each of your turns, you can deal extra damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra damage equals half your level plus your Charisma modifier, and the damage type is that depending on your fiendish heritage.
