Homebrew Awoken (Destiny) Species Details
The Distributary
While much of the history of the Awoken is left in mystery, one thing is known - the Awoken homeland, simply known as the Distributary. Its location and origin are unknown, but all Awoken hail from there. Rumor says that it's a paradise, where no one ages and disease, famine, and war simply don't exist. While many adventurers have tried to find it, only Awoken have ever been known to leave - and Awoken claim it is impossible to return. Once having left their homeland - either banished or by choice - an Awoken can never return.
Touched By Starlight
The Awoken have been touched by the cosmos, leaving a unique imprint on their appearances. Awoken possess a range of skin colors, most of them pale blue or purple. They also possess a unique range of hair colors, from blue to green to pink or black. Arguably an Awoken's most astonishing feature is their glowing eyes, which cover the whole spectrum of colors and have an unnatural glow. Many Awoken also have tattoos or facial markings, sometimes as a symbol of status and sometimes as a symbol of their rank.
Psychically Sensitive
All Awoken have a particular sensitivity to psychic energies and paracasual reactions in the world. With some training, Awoken can levitate items with their minds, or communicate in short, telepathic bursts with nearby teammates. All Awoken also feel a psychic pull back to the First Awoken - a mythical being that resides deep in the Distrubtary possesses a strange connection with the entire race. The identity of the First Awoken is unknown, and even the Awoken seem unsure of who, or what, the First Awoken is.
Awoken Names
Awoken have a peculiar naming system, in that their names tend to be remixed or slightly altered versions of human names. Awoken were, after all, originally humans. Examples of this name shift include Uldwyn to Uldren and Alice to Alis.
Awoken (Destiny) Traits
Awoken possess several unique abilities due to their connection to the cosmos, as well as their connections to the Light and the Dark.Ability Score Increase
Your Dexterity score increases by 1, and your Wisdom score increases by 2.
Age
While Awoken mature at the same rate as humans, it is nigh impossible for an Awoken to die of old age. They are an immensely long-lived species, and Awoken within the Distribtuary cannot die unless directly killed.
Alignment
Awoken tend toward neutrality on the Good/Evil spectrum, as they contain both Light and Dark and dislike categorizing morals as such. Awoken see morals as very complicated things, and in shades of gray. In Lawful/Chaotic, however, many Awoken fall towards chaotic, though with a strong respect to their Queen.
Size
Awoken are typically slightly taller and thinner than humans. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision
Due to your inherent connection to the Dark, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Psychically Protected
The Awoken have a strange connection to the various energies of the universe, and many Awoken have a natural resistance to certain energies of the cosmos. You have resistance to psychic damage.
Languages
The language of the Awoken is simply known as Speech, and it's only known and spoken by Awoken. You can speak, read, and write Common and Speech, as well as one language of your choice.
