Homebrew Wraith Species Details

Non corporeal existence

A Wraith, is a humanoid which made some kind of a contract, that would bring him to the lower planes after its live. But that humanoid got so suffused with negative energy, that the soul collapsed on itself. All that is left is a soulless schedules creature.

Apperance

A Wraith is a hovering shadow or mist like creature. It has nearly nothing from its original shape. The eyes of a Wraith glow in a color depending on its alignment, usually red to chaotic or evil, and blue or green for lawful and good (the color mixes).
As a non corporeal creature you can't wear clothes, but you can make cloths, non corporeal with magic (Ask your DM, what you can make non corporeal).

 

 

Wraith Traits

You are a non corporeal undead that walks through objekts and summons undead.

Undead

A Wraith is an Undead being, so you don't have to sleep, eat or breath, but you have to remain motionless for 8 hours to regain abilities you would regain with a long rest.
As an undead, you cannot heal from healing spells or food, only if otherwise stated. You can heal at short and long rest like other races.
You also have no soul, so if you die once you can't be brought back to life.

 

Non corporeal body

As a Wraith you have no physikal body. You can't wear normal weapons or armor. (Your DM may allow you to wear magical armor, but this is supossed to be the down side of your resistances)

Create Specter

You touch a humanoid that has been dead for no longer than 1 minute and died violently. The target's spirit rises as a specter in the space of its corpse or in the nearest unoccupied space. The specter is under your control and dies after 10 minutes. You can have no more than one specters under your control at once. You have to finish a long rest to use this ability again.

At 10th Level you can have two Specter at once.

Life Drain

You can make a melee attack against a creature withing range. If you hit, you deal 1d6 necrotic damage.
If you hit, the creature has to make a Constitution, saving through against 10 + your proficiency bonus, or it's Hit Points maximum is reduced by the damage taken.
This reduction lasts for a day and the creature dies if it's Hit Point maximum is reduced to 0.

Sunlight Sensitivity

While in sunlight, you have disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Incorporeal Movement

You can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. You take 4d6 force damage if you ends your turn inside an object.

Darkvision

You have 60 feet Darkvision.

Condition Immunities

As an undead you can not be Charmed, Exhaustion, Poisoned and as a misty creature you also can't be Grappled.

Damage Immunities

You are Immun to Necrotic and Poison damage.

Damage Resistance

You are resistant to Acid, Cold, Lightning ; Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing, as long as it is a non magical attack and the weapon is not made of silver.

Languages

You can speak the languages you knew In life.

Speed

You can not touch the ground and so you can only hover 5 feet above it.

Size

Your Size is Medium

Alignment

Your Alignment depends on the reason, that brought you back to live. An evil necromancer would make you evil, and your own will maybe makes you neutral.

Age

A Wraith does not die after a long life they live forever, but they are usually 10 to 100 years old.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.
