Homebrew Wood Tiefling Species Details
It’s very surprising when elves and tieflings hang around each other, let alone have children together, but lo and behold it somehow happened. A tiefling and wood elf had a child and now an outcast wanders the world searching for a place to belong. Let’s see if you ever find it.
Mixing and Matching Fey and Infernal
Being part elf gives you their unearthly grace and you appear hauntingly beautiful to humans and members of many other races but, since you are a mix of elf and tiefling, your appearance can include and exclude any of the following traits. You might have horns that take a wide variety of shapes: curling horns like a ram, straight and tall horns like a gazelle, or an upwards spiral like an antelope. You may have a thick tail, four to five feet long, which lashes or coils around your legs when you get upset or nervous. Your canine teeth might be sharply pointed. Your eyes can be solid colors—black, red, white, silver, or gold—with no visible sclera or pupil, or they can be eyes like pools of liquid gold or silver, or just simply green, brown, or hazel eyes. Skin tones cover the full range of human coloration, sometimes with traces of green, but also includes copper, bronze, and various shades of red. Your hair ranges in colors from black, brown, blonde, copper-colored, dark red, blue, green, or purple and can appear in a wide variety of ways from long and straight to short and curly. Although you can’t grow facial hair and have very little body hair.
Pride and Predjudice
Because of your tiefling heritage, people tend to be suspicious of you, assuming that your infernal heritage has left its mark on your personality and morality, not just your appearance. Shopkeepers keep a close eye on their goods when you enter their stores, the town watch might follow you around for a while, and demagogues blame you for strange happenings. The reality, though, is that your bloodline doesn’t affect your personality to any great degree. Years of dealing with mistrust does leave its mark on most people however, and they respond to it in different ways. Some choose to live up to the wicked stereotype, but others are virtuous. Most are simply very aware of how people respond to them. After dealing with this mistrust throughout youth, you'll often develop the ability to overcome prejudice through charm or intimidation. Still, because of your fey ancestry, you can find good in just about anyone, even if you can be haughty, you are generally gracious even to those who fall short of your high expectations. Elves are magical people of otherworldly grace, living in the world but not entirely part of it, and this applies to you as well. You love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry, and the good things of the world. Since you have such a long lifespan, you can enjoy centuries of exploration and discovery, so live life however you please.
Naming Conventions
Hybrids usually use the naming conventions of the parent whose culture is more apparent in their life, so both elf and tiefling names might be used. Some even have both an elf and tiefling name that they use around different races. You can use really any name, but here is a long list of suggestions.
