Homebrew Cyprix Species Details

Cyprixes are an aquatic race that hailed from the oceans of the far east, where they lived as one of the apex predators of their regions. Cyprixes were born when a few Koi Carps gained mythical powers to shape the sea to their will and a humanoid form with unearthly beauty after a long, perilous journey to reach the top of a mythical waterfall. Most Cyprixes spend most of their days protecting their territory while some longed for adventure and traveled to the unknown lands, ready to make their marks in history. 

Aquatic Apex

The Cyprixes have acquired heavenly beauty through their deadly trial, being only rivaled by the Elves in terms of appearance. But even though the Koi Carps have obtained a human shape and mythical powers, they still retained some of their original features. The skins of the Cyprixes still retained some scales with the patterns of their previous self, they also retained their fins on the limbs. 

Eternal Life and Eternal Pride

The oldest Cyprix recorded was at the age of 600 years, it would seem that the Cyprix does not physically age. According to folklore, a Cyprix is born when a Koi Cap finishes its journey, no one has ever seen these journeys, but it is rumored that A Cyprix's form is in correlation with its age and state as a Koi Carp. Cyprixes do not need to sleep to regain their energy, they meditate as a means of rest. 

Cyprixes are extremely prideful, they gained everything through their torturous journey. They are proud of their struggle and regard all other races as inferior since everything was granted to the other races from birth while the Cyprixes started as mere fishes and had to work through a near-impossible journey to get to where they are today. Most of the Cyprixes value a code of Honor above everything else, the Cyprixes that broke this code will be considered as an outcast and deemed unworthy of their powers. A conflict between Cyprixes usually leads to a duel to death, due to their strong sense of pride, there had never been a Cyprix who admits defeat in battle, there are only the victor and the dead in the world of the Cyprixes. 

Lone Guardians

Due to the near-impossible trial that the Carps face, Cyprixes are actually very rare, most Carps that attempt this trial rarely make it through. Most of them died trying, perishing horribly. The Cyprixes that made it through seeks out their own territory and ruled their region either as a keeper of balance, or a ruthless tyrant. Some minorities would prefer to seek purpose from further lands, trying to find their true calling. They prefer to be alone, but they don't mind some company every now and then.

Age

Cyprixes do not age, they all start from adulthood when they passed their challenge to reach a humanoid form. No Cyprixes have been observed to die due to aging yet, suggesting that the Cyprixes may be Immortal. 

Alignment

Cyprixes all abide by a code of honor and pride, they think that without it they are nothing, being more lawful than most races. Being extremely prideful individuals, most Cyprixes do things with their best interest in mind. They will follow through with whatever will create the best-case scenario for them, keeping a perfect neutral perspective of the world

Cyprixes range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Being accustomed to hunting in the depth of the sea, you can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
