Homebrew Axolotl Species Details
In the beginning, there was nothing. Then, there was axolotl. We conquered the lands, but the lands conquered back. We took the seas, but then the seas took us.

Axolotls are a fairly new race. They were created by the Goddess Faust, as a gift to her friend, the God of Luck. Later they were enslaved and mutated by the Sahuagin which turned them into the magnificent creatures that they are today. Eventually they managed to escape from their captors and created their own tribe, where they stayed in peace and isolation for several decades. Now, more and more axolotls are becoming curious about the world and whats out there. Some have decided to leave the tribe and explore the world on their own.
Axolotl Traits
As an axolotl you get the following traits.Ability score modifier
Your Constitution Score increases by 2 and your Wisdom Score increases by 1.
Age
Axolotls reach maturity at age 4, they live up to 35 years.
Amphibious
Due to their amphibious nature, axolotls can breathe underwater as well as on land. Though they will need to be doused in water once every three days, or they will dehydrate and suffer severe damage to their skin. When this happens, you will take 10 points of damage for every hour that you spend without bathing in water.
Darkvision
You can see up to 60ft in the dark.
Languages
You can speak common, aquan and aicolad. Aicolad being the language of the axolotls.
Rapid Regeneration
Axolotls regrow lost limbs, when dropped to 0 HP you instead drop to 1 if you choose to spend an exhaustion point. It takes 1d4 amount of days before you can use this ability again, as it is the same amount of time it takes to regrow the limb.
Size
Axolotls can grow up to 3 feet tall.
Survival Instincts
After being hunted for several decades, the Axolotl have become quite a cautious race. Therefore, they gain proficiency in survival and perception. However, you also gain an innate fear of Tabaxi and Aarakocras.
Swimming speed
You have a swimming speed of 30ft.
