Once upon a time, there was a really bored deity who felt like making the world a little more paranoia inducing. That madlad created mimics. And then a really short sighted wizard went: "What if this was smart?" He died, but not before releasing two dozen smart mimics into the world. They reproduced, aaaand now this is a race.
