Homebrew Cuddler Species Details
The Atlanteans created the Cuddlers to help fight off the water gods that wanted them destroyed. Cuddlers got their names because of how friendly they are to those they consider friends. The problem is, they tend to limit the number of friends they have to 5, so anyone new tend to be a little less protected, but if you mess with any of the 5 they attached to, they will mess you up. Imagine a 10 to 12 foot person, with the strength of some giants, hitting you, or squeezing's the life out of you.
Cuddlers tend to live for 150 years, are able to change genders as they see fit, this way they can insure their race will continue on. They often have 6 to 12 eggs that they stash in the water or on land. However, half those children don't end up making it. Also, because Atlantic is gone, they are often found in the southern regions of the worlds warmer land masses or just off shore.
Cuddler Traits
Able to use its cap that's attached to its head as a shield, camouflage themselves and most of their gear, climb as fast as they can walk, and shoot webs strands from one point to another or at a target.Web Shot
This web shot shoots out at the target or area the owner intends to hit. Once it hits a target the target takes 1d4 damage and that part of their body is stuck to the end of the strand. The user can then pull the target to them, stick them to something, or tie them up. This effect only lasts for 3 rounds, or until the target is hit by another attack.
If the user uses the web shot to aid in climbing, making a bridge, or any other utility type us, the web still only lasts for 3 rounds. However, the smaller races might stick to the web, and not be able to use it as intended. If a party member has wings they are also highly likely to get stuck to the web, no matter the users intent.
Once a target is stuck to the web, the user could use it to pull the target to them. If above them any way shape or form, and struck by the user, the momentum from the pull will aid in the attack. So, instead of taking less damage from a physical attack due to the slowing of the climb, the target takes full damage due to the momentum from the pull. However, the web is immediately removed, and the target could end up taking fall damage as well.
The Range of the Web Shot is up to, but no more than 40 feet.
Wall Climb
Climbing can some times be hard. It slows you down and makes things harder if you have lots to carry or have members that need help. The Cuddler doesn't have as much problem with this, thanks to its tentacles having suction cup like spots on them. This is why climbing for them doesn't slow them down. However, carrying an equal amount of weight as themselves or higher, can cause them to be 1/3rd slower. So, if their movement speed is 30, they would move at a speed of 20 instead.
Z-Camouflage
Z-Camouflage allows the use to blend in to their environment much like a cuddle fish would. However, it can also cause things being healed or worn to be camouflage as good as the user is. The only downside is that there are some Legendary and Artifice gear that don't blend very well. Sometimes even an enchantment on something can cause it to not camouflage as well. So, be careful what you are carrying when using this, or test it out with each things you wear or hold, so you can know if they work with this or not.
This camouflage is so good that to be spotted the target must beat the users advantage roll. In other words the user gets to roll twice and they choose the higher roll. This aspect can be upgraded through feats if agreed on by the DM.
Venomous Bite
1d8 poison damage. This ability can level with you. It goes up by 1d8 on levels 3, 8, 14, 17, and 20
