Homebrew Dhoru Species Details

Dhoru are a gentle species found on the planet Phytan . Many assume they share a relationship with treants or spriggan but all studies have confirmed the Dhoru to be a species of intelligent plant life with no connection to the fey (despite their limited spell like ability). An extremely old race, nevertheless, the Dhoru are rarely involved in galactic events, preferring to stay in the endless forests of Phytan and enjoy a simple, peaceful existence.

GENTLE GIANTS

Dhoru are slow deliberators. However, once a Dhoru has chosen a position they are extremely stubborn. When a Dhoru chooses a friend, they have earned a lifelong loyalty however, when a Dhoru names you an enemy you are so labeled for centuries. Dhoru are natural guardians and attempt to deescalate conflicts, preferring a peaceful resolution perhaps a compromise that could be negotiated over the next 10 12 seasons.

DIFFERENT MINDS , DIFFERENT BODIES

Dhoru are towering figures, standing over 12’ tall and often weighing over 1000 lbs. They are dense and lumbering with deep booming voices that seem to creak like tree limbs under a strong wind. Their hands and feet are less defined than most species, with individual fingers or toes often regrown over time. The Dhoru language is one of deep growls and extended vowels such as Kuurgh or Paarj

Bark

Your thick, bark-like skin. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Constitution modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.

Powerful Strike

When you attack with your limbs your tough hide allows for more powerful blows than normal, causing 1d6 points of damage per hit (plus your Strength modifier).

Dhoru Seed

As an action, you can expel a dhoru seed from any limb. If planted in fertile ground and left undisturbed for 10 days, the seed will grow into a healthy duplicate of you. As soon as the duplicate sprouts, your former body will wither as you are transferred to the new body.

Nurturing Power

You can manifest the spell Goodberry Once you do so, you can’t use this ability again until you finish a long rest.

Light Dependent

You temporarily lose one point of Constitution every day that passes when you go without exposure to sunlight.
