Homebrew Dikhoryph Species Details

With an existence as obscure as their origins, few know of the Dikhoryph. One theory claims they are the creations of cruel wizards, being composed of two men formed into one. Dikhoryph are cultureless outcasts with no home to call their own. Usually solitary, and never meeting another of their kind, they live their lives shunned and in the shadows, considered unnatural abominations by most. Dikhoryph never grow up alone, however. They possess two heads, located between their shoulders similarly to humans. Each head has control over the whole body, and its own distinct mind and personality. Dikhoryph's heads may be dear friends, sharing a bond closer than any siblings, they may absolutely hate each other, believing that sharing the same body is a curse, or they may merely tolerate each other.

Dikhoryph Traits

Having two heads makes a lot of things easier, and a lot of things harder.

Two Is Better Than One

Redundancies

If you have both heads, instead of dying you are reduced to zero hitpoints and are stabilized. Flip a d2. On a 1 your right head dies, on a 2 your left head dies. When one of your heads is dead, you no you no longer have those proficiencies, languages, or knowledge, your movement speed is halved due to difficulty controlling your body alone, and you no longer benefit from the Two Is Better Than One trait. Your second head may be brought back using spells such as Revivify or Raise Dead.

Shared Burdeon

Your proficiencies, languages, and knowledges are split between your two heads. You may chose what goes to which head, or assign it randomly. When one head is dead or incapacitated, you no longer have those proficiencies, languages, or knowledge until the head is back to normal condition.

Languages

Both of your heads are fluent in common, and each head is fluent in one extra language of your choice.
