Homebrew Wanderer Species Details
Otherworldly Appearance
Appearing more like blankets and robes than living creatures, the wanderers are entirely inorganic in composition. They are innately magical by nature, born from the magic of the sun of the Plane of Sand. Wanderers range from 5 to 7 feet tall, however they lack almost any of the weight of most other creatures. the average wanderer weighs between 20-25 pounds. They often need to carry equipment in order to stop themselves from being swept up by strong winds.
Their bodies are thin and sticklike, made out of a somewhat durable substance. Their entire body save for their legs, hands, and head are covered by a flowing dress-like garb that comprises the majority of their mass. This cloth-like material can have a range of colors and patterns. They lack feet, instead their legs end in nubs. Their hands have only 4 digits. Where their head would be, a glassy orb floats above their body. This orb has a simple pattern.
Children of The Light
Otherworldly in nature, wanderers have unique requirements for sustenance. Instead of deriving energy from cellular metabolism, wanderers are sustained by absorbing heat and light from their environment. Exposure to the cold will quickly drain them of their energy and send them into unconsciousness or kill them. They do not require food, water, or oxygen.
Timeless Tranquility
Wanderers are unburdened by the passage of time, and their actions and mannerisms reflect this. Wanderers are unrivaled in patience, and they often find their purpose living a life in an endless quest of experience. Conversations or games between wanderers can last for years, and certain board games are so complex, that it takes too long to learn for humans to play. A wanderer might construct a plan that takes hundreds of years in execution.
Wanderers are naturally curious, this often leads them on long journeys. Exploring wanderers will often join groups of other races in order to learn more about them and journey alongside them.
A combination of factors makes wanderers almost universally peaceful in nature, approaching conflict thoughtfully and diplomatically.
