Homebrew Aumaua Species Details

The aumaua are a race of large, semiaquatic humanoids with a diverse array of skin patterns, elongated heads, and semi-webbed hands and feet. Aumaua originated from sea giants and evolved to typically live and work in warm oceanic climates. They are physically distinct from other races due to their towering size, “inverted triangle” physique, odd skin and hair coloration and textures, and head shape. Aumaua natural lifespans are typically between 70 and 115 years. 

Aumaua colors range from brown and yellow to blue and green. Their culture is are particularly involved in seafaring. The result of an ancient campaign in the northern continent leads people in the Empire to associate the Aumaua with a more aggressive, warlike reputation. This is not entirely accurate. However, it has led to a self-fulfilling prophecy whereby many coastal aumaua are mercenaries, bodyguards, or soldiers.

Among the Waves

Descendants of sea giants, Aumaua have incredible resolve against the waves and living among the coast has trained your body to overcome flooded areas and dense foliage--you have advantage on strength saving throws and ignore movement penalties when traversing difficult terrain. 

Partially Amphibious

By absorbing oxygen through your skin, you can breathe underwater for up to 1 hour. Once you've reached that limit, you can't use this trait again until you finish a long rest.

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.
