Homebrew Dark Human Species Details

Lore

Their origin is still unknown, but the most popular consensus is that centuries ago, a pregnant woman gave birth to twins while at sea, a male and a female, both were believed to be infected with a strange disease since their skin and teeth were black. A few weeks had gone by and the babies seemed healthy, but their strange condition was worrying the crew, so much so that they abandoned the two babies on the nearest island they found, along with their mother and a single crate of provisions.

Description

Dark humans represent less than 1% of the human race, they mostly all come from Selvagan, a remote island north of the Tuern.
Although their appearance is less charismatic, they are as adaptable and ambitious as any other human. They have widely varying tastes, morals, and customs in the many different lands where they have traveled to.
Dark humans are often confused for undead or savages because of their unusual black skin, black hair, black bones, and black blood.
To help them survive, they are taught at a very young age how to brew their signature poison (Black-Blood poison), which only requires a few ingredients, one of them being their own blood.

  • You can apply poison to a weapon or piece of ammunition as a bonus action, instead of an action.
  • You gain proficiency with the Poisoner's Kit if you don’t already have it. With one hour of work using a poisoner’s kit and expending 10 gp worth of materials and also a number of hit points equal to your proficiency bonus, you can create a number of doses of potent poison equal to your proficiency bonus. Once applied to a weapon or piece of ammunition, the poison retains its potency for 1 minute or until you hit with the weapon or ammunition. When a creature takes damage from the coated weapon or ammunition, that creature must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or take 2d6 necrotic damage and become poisoned until the end of your next turn.
