Homebrew Yiddi Species Details

Yiddi are short and fat creatures. Their bodies are made of acrid, moist, mold animated by a mind which lives purely to collect as much wealth as possible. Their fingers and noses are thick and lumpy, and they have small, beady eyes. A Yiddi's fungal mass continuously grows as they age. Yiddi children stand no taller than one foot, but ones in their high hundreds can tower over eight feet tall.

Yiddi Traits

Being made of fungus has some interesting effects.

Ability Score Increase.

Your Charisma score increases by 2... somehow. And you may increase another score of your choice by 1.

Age.

Being made of a continuously renewing clump of fungus, Yiddi cannot die of old age. They will grow continuously, however an excessively large Yiddi may have trouble moving, and eventually collapse and become part of the landscape.

Alignment.

Yiddi are driven primarily by an insatiable apatite for precious metals. They don't care how they get it, so they are almost always chaotic in nature, and often forced into evil.

Size.

Yiddi are formed at 1 foot tall, and grow by an additional foot for every 25 years of life, slowing to less than an inch per decade at around 7 feet.

Speed.

Your base walking speed is 20 feet, and your base burrowing speed is 10 feet.

Darkvision.

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Innate Spellcasting.

You know the Distort Value spell, and can cast it from first level without consuming spell slots an amount per day equivalent to your charisma modifier. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Long Noses.

You have a sense of smell surpassing that of a bloodhound... for refined precious metal. You can smell any refined precious metals within 200 feet of you, as long as their is airflow between you and the metal. You can accurately guess the type, and amount of precious metal, however you cannot ascertain it's location, just that it is in your vicinity.

Lust For Gold.

As you are a living pile of fungus, normal food does not sustain you. You can eat only refined precious metals, such as copper, silver, gold, electrum, and platinum. More precious metals are more sustaining. You must eat at least the equivalent of 1GP per foot of height per day to live. Failing to eat enough precious metals in a day gives you one level of exhaustion. You do not have to eat regular food, and must only drink very small amounts of water.

Languages.

You can speak, read, and write Common, Izaneksha, and one language of your choice.
