Homebrew Chicken Species Details

Chickens are common barn yard creatures.  Most chickens never think beyond laying eggs and scratching the ground for food.

Beak and Feather

These farm birds are around one foot tall and are considered mostly flightless often in need of a farmers protection.

Feathers cover their bodies. Males are brightly colored, with feathers of red, orange, or yellow. Females have more subdued colors, usually brown or gray. Their heads complete the avian appearance with with a sharp beak.

Wardens of the Morning.

Male chicken are known to caw when the sun first comes up, signaling the farm to begin the day.

 

Mannerisms

Chickens are not know for having manners.  And are often described as un trainable.

Homelands

Chickens are a common farm animal with very few wild varieties.  The origin of the chicken is no longer remembered.

Great Purpose

The great purpose of the common chicken is to eat and lay eggs.  Unknown to most chickens is the care giving farm will also kill the chickens for meat.

Chickens Names

Chickens are not often given names. Some farmers do get attacjed to there chickens and give them names though a chicken will not name itself.  Names given by farmers are often puns such as Hen Solo, Eggakocra, and Henishell destroyer of seeds.

Backgrounds mean very little to chickens as they are all basically the same grew from egg lived on a farm.

Chicken Traits

As an chicken, you have certain traits in common with your people. Being able to fly at low speed starting at 1st level is exceptionally ineffective in certain circumstances and exceedingly dangerous in others. As a result, playing an chicken requires special consideration by your DM.

Your strength is minus 2, your dex is plus 4, con plus 2, int minus 2, wis plus 6.

Age

CHICKENS Reach maturity by age 6 MONTHS . CHICKENS TIPICALLY LIVE FOR about 8 years..

Alignment

Most aarakocra are good and rarely choose sides when it comes to law and chaos. Tribal leaders and warriors might be lawful, while explorers and adventurers might tend toward chaotic.

Size

Chickens are about one foot tall. They have fat, lightweight bodies that weigh between 8 and 10pounds. Your size is tiny.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Flight

You have a flying speed of 50 feet. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor.

Talons

Your talons are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

You can speak, read, and write Common, Aarakocra, and Auran.
