Homebrew Aurani Species Details
In the darkest reaches of the forest I saw them leap through the canopy with ease, moving from branch to branch with a beautiful grace. I heard them whisper within my head in gentle yet nearly apathetic tones as they shared images with me of their culture. They call themselves Aurani, the people of the soul.
The Aurani are the indigenous race of Gent, also known as the dark continent. They are a race of humanoids with skin ranging from shades of white to dark purple. They have long whip like tails, five clawed fingers and three clawed toes with which they use to climb and make their way through the dense canopies. They are entirely hairless and have slender frames, however their most distinguishing features are their bony ridged brows which run from their nose up along the center of their skull, as well as the tentacles that take the place of hair on their species, and even facial hair in the case of males. They are often a very reclusive people, due their species being largely deposed from their homes by the Droe and Githyanki that have civilized the land.
People of the Soul
The Aurani refer to themselves as the people of the soul, this is largely due to their intrinsic connection to the spirits of all living things, which allow them to communicate with other races mentally. Many Aurani that venture from their homes do so in effort to seek out and fix the disorder within the souls of the world and restore order and balance.
Aurani Names
Most aurani use naming conventions alien to the common races and utterly inpronouncable with the common tongue. As such many of their names are conveyed through singular words or concepts. Though Aurani outside of the safety of their forest canopies take Elvish names when dealing with other cultures due to the fluid rhythmic structure.

Age
Aurani mature at the same rate as humans, but they can live up to 160 years.
Alignment
Connected to the spirit in all things, the Aurani are naturally prone to lawful good or neutral alignments.
Size
Aurani have the same range of height as humans, however they have a tendency to be leaner.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You also have a climbing speed equal to that of your walking speed.
Mental Shielding
You have advantage on Wisdom and Intelligence saving throws. Starting at 5th level you also gain resistance to Psychic damage.
Disrupting Thought
Once per short rest you may use Disrupting Thought using your reaction. Disrupting thought allows you to impose disadvantage on one attack roll made against you or an ally within eyesight.
Darkvision
You can see in dim light as if in bright light up to 30 feet and in complete darkness as if in dim light up to 60 feet.
Languages
Aurani do not speak as other races due, as they lack the vocal chords necessary to produce sounds as such. Instead they share links through the souls of all creatures through which they communicate with simple sentences, as well as images and emotional concepts. This ability has a range of 120 feet.
