Homebrew Cryo-phoenix Species Details

Eternal Frozen Flame

Since the rise of the first dawn, a race known as the phoenix have existed. Born of the sun and earth, each phoenix has elemental ties woven into their being and deep connections to the elemental plane of fire.

Some humans have conducted experiments for decades, in order to study the "immortality" of the Phoenix, and find out what exactly what makes them "tick", what gives them this property so they may attribute it to themselves.

Those studies have mostly been performed in icy cold climates, if they were to revive, humans would have an advantage against them. Nobody believed that a mutation such as this could even take place, but after all, living beings eventually adapt to their environment. It was one dreaded day, that attempting to ignite the ash to see the rebirth take place would produce a faint blue flame instead of the normal fiery red. A freezing blast occurred as the ash molded and formed that will later be named a Cryo-Phoenix, humans caught in the blast were frozen, giving the beast the chance to make its escape. Thus the Cryo-Phoenix race was released into the wilderness.

Bird of crystals

Resembling birds of prey, the Cryo-Phoenix apparence is mostly defined by their unique snowy-white plumage and long tail, both ending in shiny colored feathers (most commonly blue). Their wings are the most important tool at their disposal, if they were to lose some of those feathers, they're bound to grow back in a matter of seconds. They have sharp agile eyes to follow and lock on their targets with. Their beaks and legs are commonly black.

A rare sight

Due to their low population numbers and hostile cold habitats they rarely if ever interact with other species. Regardless curiosity is a rather prevalent trait, causing some to explore outside their frozen lands where other races may have caught on about their existence. Direct interactions with them are mere stories barely anyone would believe.

Cryo-phoenix names

They can live the entirety of their existence without a name, yet if one is chosen willingly or not they tend to develop an attachment to those names, they will remember and hold onto it till the end of time, even between rebirth cycles.
