Homebrew Bagmians Species Details
Millions of years ago, a group of humanoids migrated deep down below to the underground. Millions of years passed, and eventually they developed into Bagmians, perfectly suited for the isolated life deep down in the underground. Due to their isolated environment, Bagmians manufacture lots of tools and items from metals and stone, but have practically no wooden items, nor any wool or silk to make clothes of. Instead, they have a heat isolating orange skin, keeping them warm. This can cause some controversy between Bagmians and other creatures, who may be offended by their lack of clothing.
Many Bagmians are experienced in crafting tools and items out of metals and stone, the only available materials in the underground. When communicating with the surface world, Bagmians can often trade precious metals or metal items in exchange for exclusive items only to be found above the ground, such as bone, leather, rope or glass. However, most communities of Bagmians are very isolated, and very seldom, if ever, have any contact with the surface world whatsoever.
Bagmians live deep below the ground. As a result, the food source is limited. Therefore they have developed the ability to directly consume minerals. For example, a Bagmian might take a small piece of iron or cobalt and eat it, while other humanoids would never be capable of consuming such minerals directly. Bagmians can also smell metals, such as iron, silver, copper or nickel.
The isolated societies of the long lived Bagmians usually have very strict social rules. Opposing the ruling authority is completely banned, and a taboo built into the gens of Bagmians. Since the respect of the leader is so strong, most Bagmian societies have very loose laws, since breaking the will of the leading organ is so rare and unthinkable. If someone does something which directly offend a person, the offended person will go to the leaders to demand justice, who will judge accourding to their own moral values and the available proofs. Bagmian societies are often rather open to strangers, but severely punish those who disrespect their customs.
