Homebrew Canifolk Species Details

The Canifolk, also known by their pejoritive title of 'Wolf People', is the name for the race of canine based, bipedal, sapient creatures that hail from the realm of Machini Mundai.

Noble and Fierce

Canifolk tend to be tall compared to humans and move with a boldness that suggests their physical might. Thick, bushy fur covers their bodies, and the colors of said fur come in an large variety. A unique feature to the Canifolk are their unusually sharp canines, which can grow to up to 4 inches long and pierce even the thickest of skin. This, along with their ability to produce blood-chilling howls, gives most Canifolk an edge in battle that few humanoids could ever replicate. Canifolk often act with a stoic, rational mindset. While this level of confidence can reassure allies, it can also invoke a sense of total apathy that may alienate the Canifolk from other members of society.

Quick to Quarrel

Other peoples often perceive Canifolk as quick to take offense, intolerant of criticism, or belligerent. The truth is that many Canifolk simply enjoy fighting, whether verbal or physical. They take pleasure in argument, wrestling, sparring, and even battle, enjoying the opportunity to exercise their minds and bodies. It follows, too, that Canifolk rarely hold grudges against another individual on anything other than combat-related grievances.

Pride and Self-Reliance

Few, if any, Canifolk hold any sort of spiritual reverence to the gods or goddesses of the Forgotten Realms. Facing a large amount of fear and suspicion from other peoples due to a suspected connection with lycanthropy and other such transformative diseases, the Canifolk have been mostly denied from holding any sort of religious standing in existing temples, clergies and monastaries. For those that are pious, they are mostly devoted to a deity revolving around practical uses, such as farming, hunting, fertility and weaving. Canifolk rely on themselves and their clans. A clan is bound together by the experience of a shared challenge and, in particular, surviving in a largely untamed, uncontrollable world.
Canifolk Names

Along with their personal names, Canifolk identify themselves by their clan. A member of the Night-Heaven clan with the personal name of Blade, for example, would likely style herself as Blake Night-Heaven.
