Homebrew Disembodied Brain Species Details

Shredder: That's quite a brain you got there, Krang!
Krang: Of course it is, it's all I've got!

Disembodied brains are brains kept alive in a special preserving fluid kept in a jar and a metallic apparatus. There are many different ways a disembodied brain can come to be, such as a failed experiment, a last ditch effort to save a companion, or a desperate attempt to stave off death.

No body No problem

Disembodied Brains are able to function fairly easily in society even with the limitations of their physical form. Their craftiness give them the ability to modify most weapons and armor to work with their jar like apparatus. They make up for any of their physical shortcomings using their enhanced mental abilities.

Most disembodied brains keep their personalities from before their transformation, but usually start to look down on other races due to what they see as their limited brain capacity.

Driven by Desire

Most Disembodied Brains are driven by either the desire to regain a physical body or revenge on whoever destroyed their physical form. Disembodied Brains typically spend some time struggling with depression caused by their lack of a body.

Disembodied Brain Names

Your Wisdom and Intelligence scores both increase by 2 while the frailty of your robotic body means your strength decreases by 1.

Age

Disembodied Brains are kept alive by the special fluid in their jar. The limits of how long this fluid can keep them alive are unknown.

Alignment

Most Disembodied Brains alignments are dependent on how they were put in this condition. An evil wizard who transformed himself to extend his life will most likely stay evil while a heroic adventurer who was placed in this condition to save their will likely remain heroic.

When you make a Wisdom or Intelligence saving throw, you can use your reaction to gain advantage on the roll. You can use this trait immediately before or after you roll, but before any of the roll’s effects occur.

Don't Mind if I Do

You have resistance to psychic damage.

Mind if I ask you a Question?

You can speak telepathically to any friendly creature you can see within 60 feet of you. You don’t need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic messages, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language or be telepathic itself.

As a bonus action when you’re speaking telepathically to a creature, you can give that creature the ability to speak telepathically to you until the start of your next turn. To use this ability, the creature must be within 60 feet of you and be able to see you.

No Body Notices

Your brain naturally emits an aura that makes you hard to notice. You have proficiency in stealth and creatures that you are interacting with will typically ignore your strange appearance if you don't draw attention to it.
