Homebrew Cursed (Undead) Species Details
Yua is a Entity of unknown origin, with ability's often outside of her control. Possessing neither breath nor heartbeat, her skin is cold and ash-grey, producing no body heat to provide comfort. She looks around absentmindedly, sclera black, near pupils eyes dull and unfocused, had it not been for the ombres of lavender amongst her gaze.
Wanderer by neither nature nor necessity, Yua never settles in one place for long, the chilling pressure her presence brings welcomed by few. The misfortune that greets her every turn, and the death the follows is a danger to many, and her undead-like appearance and odd mannerisms unsettling even more.
Requiring neither sleep nor food, Yua travels by way of Impulse, meddling in the lives of long forgotten spirits only they can see. an eternal undying being, of no faith.

Everlasting Torment
She trades sluggishly through the marsh, water at the knee, rippling every step. Her reflection stares back at her, warped by the waves, blanketed by the night sky. She starts at her hair, a shade of gray darker than her skin, hangs limply, framing her face, but falls not far past her shoulders. It's darker than it should be, she thinks to herself, The Lavender shaded strands appearing all but black against her skin. Yua fingers twitch, she jerks her eye to the right, eyeing them. her nails are cracked, and small scratches are scattered over her palms; they bleed. She sways absentmindedly as she brings her hand up to her hair, rocking on the balls of her feet underneath the water. The cuff of her sleeve has been frayed, the silk edges torn; she makes a mental note to spend time mending it. Her fingertips grace the edge of her hair, wet; reaching forward, she grasps the end and groans, annoyed. It's tacky, the consistency of honey; it sticks to her fingers like glue. Huffing, she pulls her hand away, trailing her gaze up her hair to her eye; her face is mostly shrouded in shadow, and her hair provides ample coverage from the moonlight; it makes no difference. The girl laughed, mute as it may have been, it echoed over the vacant waters. Moonlight beamed down, glinting at her face, sharp and angular, as she stared down into unbroken waters; the silver tip of an arrow, where her eye should have been, stared back.
As an immortal being incapable of death by no standard means, any injury is a consequence. When Yua falls to zero hit points at the beginning of her next turn, she returns to life at one hit point with one point of exhaustion; her exhaustion level increases by one for every subsequent death. At the sixth level of exhaustion, Yua is rendered equally parts partially blind and deaf and suffers short-term Amnesia at the DMs discretion. In order to remove exhaustion levels, Yua must recover and sacrifice her maximum number of soul Dice. When returning from death, Yua may roll up to her current total Soul Dice + 1 to regain HP.
However, no one is Indestructible. If struck down by Radiant damage, Yua will roll death saves at Disadvantage.
Grim Gallivant
Everywhere she goes, death follows; misfortune paves her path like an omen of death. Yua has not a thing required of her and requires not for a thing for herself. Not a bed to lay rest, nor the air we breathe, or the meals we share spread between loved ones. Yua requires not for all but one thing: life itself. The screams of joy from young children, so light and naive, fall still as she walks. A young woman hits her head on the corner of a merchant stall; she never gets back up, Yua watches. An older man falls ill of no cause; he passes, the disease spreads; she had heard rumors of an outbreak. She wallows through a shallow creek; you see, she heard of these flowers, gorgeous they sound; they only bloom after dark, reflecting the night gaze within their petals, pistil like shooting stars; she wanted to see them for herself. But they are only located in Ilkial, or so they say. So she will walk, and she will wallow, and she will make it there eventually. A fish swims past her feet upstream, carp by the looks of it, just skimming past her submerged boots, it goas limp. The clack of bones can be heard; it's a distinct sound that echoes and rattles against the cave walls, an easy complement to the sound of clashing blades and tearing flesh. Many have taken offense to her presence; they are not the first of their kind, ill-advised adventurers looking for redemption, or perhaps they are simply fools. Bellow her is the remains of an Entanglement spell; within it is one of her soldiers, vines woven deep within his ribcage, entangled across his limbs and blade, a pity. She takes a step forward; vines shift beneath her feet, and they wilt. Yua wanders through the crowd, hood falling over her face. The crowd has begun to thin, but not so much that she doesn't find herself jostled at sudden moments, her small stature nearly sweeping her off her feat. The festive dies down as dusk falls, and parents begin to escort their children home as brewed beverages begin to become the star of the parade. She takes a right to a neighboring alleyway away from the commotion, the footsteps following fall to a halt before picking up pace. She ducks behind some wooden stairs that lead up to an old door in the side of the building, wet and rotten, termites. She steps out behind him as he passes, with no time to turn around. He is tall, broad-shouldered, workers clothes, walks, and smells of intoxication, and falls just as gracelessly, shrouded in a white haze. It's a fulfilling feeling, filling that aching void in my chest and calming the quake in my bones. It's almost as if I could hold it within my hands; if I could just close my eyes, I could reach out and feel it, grasp it, bury myself in it. A sharp tang hits my nose, putrid; it smells of Liquor, wet and rotten wood, and dirt scuffed on my hood; there is a void in my chest.
Because Yua does not require the standard maintenances expected of most sentient beings, she must acquire a substitute, and that substitute is life energy. Some of the most important systems built into dnd rely on long and short rests, most noticeably is HP and Spell Slots. Yua is not capable of taking either long or short rests, unless under the effects of magic, and instead functions on a different restorative system.
Yua recovery of HP, Spell slots, and Soul Dice; which are Yua's substitute for Hit Dice, are synced up with her teammates long and short rests unless stated otherwise, regardless of the fact that she is near constantly regenerating and healing herself by lore, this is a RPG decision to make her life easier. Yua's recovery is determined by the location that the rest was taken, and the state of the life inhabiting the surrounding land. There are five defined categorize of terrain, Abundant, Inhabited, Scarce, Barren, and Desolate, each with there own determined recovery levels, see the table bellow.
