Homebrew Automata v2 Species Details
A blank canvas
With the intent of being servants to their creators, Automata have been made with no emotion in mind, only meant to be mindless slaves to those who created them. It was quite rare for one to actually have their Automata to possess emotions, be it for company or out of need for a conversation partner.
Following the destruction of the Xaelidian Empire and the abandoning of the Automata, a mass malfunction in their system allowed for them to gain sentience, some deciding to set into Te’alafi and beyond carrying the memories of who they were as a reminder of who they once were, some wiping their memories all together, hoping to start a new life, blending in with various communities. Despite this, a lot of Automata find themselves curious about the world surrounding them.
A lot, if not all Automatas can derive pleasure from daily pleasures humans indulge in, baths, reading, art, and so on and so forth.
Hearts of steel
With the Automata being built with intent as working day and night, they had to be able to power themselves. This issue, through multiple experiments, has been resolved with the use of specially made crystalline cores located in their chests. These “crystal hearts” as they were called functioned as rechargeable batteries, able to passively regain their charge when the Automata was in sunlight or during a special sleep-like period during the night.
Although the Automata are fully functional without sustenance, they can still consume food and drinks, conserving it into bio-energy which is later stored in the crystal heart. This energy cannot be completely relied on, though.
Automata names
A Lot of the Automata originally didn’t possess a name, being only called by their designation, usually being a short string of numbers and letters. Some owners of the Automata did give them names, according to some Automatas who didn’t wipe their memories
After the Automatas gaining sentience following the decimation of the Xaelidian Empire, many found themselves adopting various names, some of the common ones include:
Male: Marx, Engels, Auguste, Ernst, Pascal.
Female: Anemone, Simone, Kali, Yonah, Ursula.
